Re: Teh AccordB20A Engine Rebuild Thread.

i think i'd have just let the shop doing the machine work worry bout the bearings.
the last engine i built, i got acl bearings and they lasted well eh.
have used clevite? aswell with out probs.
only seen bearings killed from poor maintainence( infrequent oil changes, low oil level )or extreme over revving which causes flaking.
hope i see neither outta you eh.

Bbbbbbbbbooooooooo!!! Do it yourself, there are only like 20 nuts to tighten and all you have to to is tighten them to spec. It's not that hard!! Building the bottom end is the easiest thing to do ever.

Hang on, hang on. There are two nuts per rod to tighten... so that's 8.

And there are two (can't remember if they're bolts or studded) per main bearing. That's 10.

Can you handle tightening 18 nuts using a torque wrench? If you can swap out an engine, the entire suspension, interior and the whole wiring harness in 3 hours like you always do, I think you can build the bottom end of your engine.

Re: Teh AccordB20A Engine Rebuild Thread.

would think you might find a balance might be a waste of time these days.
but since he's changing pistons it could be an idea.
i remember years ago in production car racing, people were balancing and blueprinting nissan motors only to find they gained absolutely nothing cuase they were so good from the factory.
i suspect honda motors would be as good if not better
