lowering car the cheap way

I have about 150 dollars to lower my car 2.25 inches lol I heard you could do it with just the lowering springs, I dont really care about the quality of the ride or smoothness or whatever, just looks and what not, I wont have the car forever anyway just about a year or so. So how would I do it? I wanted to buy the 86-89 accord dropzone springs, I could get some on ebay for $100.

If you know what your doing just cut the stock suspension down to size like i did, I got an even 2 inch drop and turned out perfectly, I had some help but its nice now.

how much did it cost and I looked it up and they said your tires will wear unevenly and you will need to replace the whole suspension after 3 or 4 months?

You could by my sprint 2.25" springs for 50$ shipped and then do the tophat mod so you don't blow your struts in 2 weeks

The top hat mad allows your strut to extend through the strut tower allowing the shock travel to be the same as stock while the car sits as low as the springs are.

Just search for "tophat mod" there are tons of guys that have done it/wrote it up.

I just read that the ride quality doesn't matter to you, so fuck it. I wouldn't do it, but run the struts you have if you don't drive it much. Just avoid bumps.

buying these is your best option, and i didnt replace mine yet... but then again i get parts for next to nothing i am tight with owners of a honda and VW dealership and plus my family all knows how to work on cars, or are some other trade so there is not much i cant do after some research but im a jew when it comes to money haha

front top hat mod. take off top hat of strut assemblyl and then put ur springs on. and then, put shocks up thhru springs and the shock rod up thru body to inside of hood. put the top hat in same location but above body and upside down. with spacers depending on how low u are. and then, and thenigot around 1 inch to t.25 inchh spacers and im lowered like 3 to 3.5 in the front. ..... for the back i took off top hhat and welded in a spacer to make the shock mount bolt like 3 inches higher than where it is at stock. im lowered about 4 in the back.vim not as low as i like but icoulldnt drive thatlow it just wouldnt be possiblle around hhere

If you cut your stock springs they lose the rate and become bouncy and i dont care what other guys have to say that its cool on there cars lol i used to think the same but TRUST ME go with the sprints springs that cody thowing at ya. To much boucny = fucking up bushings and ball joints, and exe its alot of stress i had to replace that shit cause i couldnt alignment. So at the ended up paying alot more to get my shit lowered the RIGHT way....So its all up to you.....man that was alot to type lol

Seriously guys, what's going on here? This section is not for pretending that 1+1=759. Sorry guys, I don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings, but I'd rather hurt those, then risk anyone getting hurt by doing something stupid to their car, especially if it's based on outright BAD advice.

1. There is an inexpensive way to lower your car, but there are some things to consider, and first is that you're obviously not going to have the safety/ride quality of a costly setup. That said though, the most expensive setup does not mean it's always the best either.

2. DO NOT PUT ANY AFTERMARKET SPRING ON A STOCK STRUT. This is not only 'not good' but is outright unsafe. ...dangerous.

3. No matter how low you go, if you change the ride height even by a 1/2 inch, you'll have uneven tire wear because you're changing the geometry of the stock setup. BUT, there are inexpensive ways to fix this as well.

Can it be done with a $150 budget? Pretty damn close. But not by any way suggested by anyone in this thread so far except for what Dub said in his first post on this.
