    new small project

just a small project, since i took out the PS pump to remove the ac compressor, it was drained anyway, I figured out a way to use an 81 AC pulley cover over top of the PS pulley. It really finished off the PS pump and looks much better. they all used to have pulley covers at the top of the engine. All i had to do was drill and tap a 1/4-20 hole in the bracket to hold the cover,I then drilled a 1/8 hole and drove in a dowl pin as a locator pin. this lines up the cover and stops it from turning on the bolt. after that i cut off the unused other end of the cover, that used to go under the AC compressor bolt. since this isn't structural,it really only needs to be supported on one end. the metal is plenty strong enugh not to flex. one edge is rolled anyway, i did cut a small amount of that roll and flatten it, this is where the dowl pin is located. right now it's in primer, thats as far as i've got. tomorrow the AC crap comes out,and i'll put it and the pump back in.

I never could figure out why they had those on my old cars. Guess they weren't needed. It will be a nice touch.

all right pictures tomorrow, it looks great. only thing was i had to move it over,so the metal edge now sits against the roll pin,not on it, i may fix it later with a small piece of spot welded in metal. or may leave it alone. the cover is secure, and not going anywhere.

yep the ac crap is out, i do like the progressive power steering in these cars, it's really manual over 15, all the fluid is bypassed out of the rack right back to the resevoir.

here's a couple of pictures,it looks factory, this is a really easy to do project,it makes the PS pump look cleaner, and it's made from a vintage honda part you might find at a yard. mine was in a junk box here at the house.
