    project car?

I went to the junk yard today to find some parts, picked up a shift knob, and a 30$ chrome muffler tip for $8. Something caught my eye, they had a few cars I liked that were in good condition but i doubt they ran. They had a 1990-1992 honda civic hatchback, white no dents but on the hood, white, 5 spd, clean on inside, had parts in the back, no back seat, along with a toyota mr2, and a honda prelude-mostly just wanted engine for my accord. Of course they also had tons of other cars, they would charge me about 300-400 for any of those cars, I want to turn one into a street race car but im not big on money lol but enjoy working on cars, what should I get? btw they also had a 1977 mustang cobra for 1000 in running condition.

if not is there anything I could take off of the prelude? its kinda old prolly like late 80's earlier 90's.

The only thing is man is that if you dont have the space and tools to fix them then you might regret buyin em? Plus you could be buyin someone elses problems. I mean there must be a reason the people took there cars to the jy right? Just my 2 cents man I'm just speaking from experience.

theres your answer... you should get none.. you seem to be trying to bight off more then you can chew.. no offence... you have a 3g allready and i know its not a 100% perfect car.. if you dont have alot of money shouldnt it be going towards atleast keeping that one running good?

on to the other question... the 2nd gen prelude has a a20 (or a18) mostly the same motor as the 3g.. so some motor parts are the same... if its a 3rd gen the stearing wheels are swaped over to the accord for a diffrent look, also a big swap item form the 3rd gen prelude would be the front seats.. look up the how to on swaping prelude seats there very easy to put in and are worth it..

if you dont know the generation of the preludes...then you gotta look them up... cant give out all info without you doing some reaserch yourself

lol ok, well I wanted something I could work on over the years, someone told me yesterday I should build my 3gee into a car like on fast and the furious? lol.

besides how do you take the seats out of that prelude if its the right year? and the steering wheel?

I looked it up and 3rd gen for a prelude is 88-91, that car they have might actually be a 2nd gen it looks more like that, but ill ask today if I go back.

seats are easy. 4 bolts under the seat, get down there and look. 2 in the front, 2 in the rear (of each seat). if you want a project, kinda sounds like you already have one. and if its a race car you want, spend some time getting aclimated to working on a car and how its actually put together, then decide if building a racecar is something you actually want to do. its much more than just putting in a big engine and loud exhaust. the mechanics and tool time is just half of the car. the other half is actually knowing the science behind the parts and why they do what they do. i hate to use this cliche, but you must crawl before you can walk.

now that TWOLOUDNPROUD has b-series mounts that he will copy and make available, your hatch would actually make a good platform for a racecar if done properly. but get to know wrench turning and some tuning know how first. there is tons of info available on the web. hell, there is tons on this site alone, and lots of members on here who know certain aspects of tuning a car inside and out.
