i took the lx to 130.
it still had rpm's left too.
and that was with the stock intake and hatachi dizzy.
    it's no lie.
in fact when i get the chance again i'm gonna try it.
my lxi 130 also but it took less amount of time getting there too.

Hey guys go to this web site
    http://www.csgnetwork.com/speedcalc.html
put in the gear and final ratios
in the 89 lxi final is 4.066 lx is 3.866
    4th is .878 and 5th is .694
to figure tire dia. in inches I'll give an example.
my tire is a 205/50 r 15 to get dia. would use this
    205 x .50= 102.5 thats sidewall height
102.5 x 2=205 cause you got a top and bottom
205 divided by 26.4 to convert mm to inches =7.76 in.
then you add wheel dia. 15 to that you get 22.76 in.
    on a 195/60 r14 is 22.86
    185/70 r13 = 22.81
    195/50 r15 = 22.38

This can tell you to some accuracy you speed at that rpm. Those of you with big wheels it can tell you how off your speedo is. Any I figured my car at 6500rpm in 5th would go 155mph which even in it's hey day wouldn't do.

yes Justin I have a manual.

Sorry for the long post I just thought it was cool. More stuff like that at

I have hit 125ish with my stock LXi -5 speed. it took a long rd( in canada, i wasn't worried about getting pulled over up there) and past 115 it was slow in accelerating. once i got to 125 i hit a wall and it would not go any farther. i don't recommend going that fast on long trips however, 6 hours later my bearings went, and goodbye engine #2

Up there in the 120s somewhere a long time ago. I would not dare out her through such a traumatic event again...

It's a fact that Tach's & Speedometers are not accurate. if the speedometer is hovering @ 120mph, u are not doing 120mph.. U can really see the diffrence, when you buy aftermarket gauges. Example! when u rev ur car while on neutral and you hit 4.5k to 5k. it's more like 3k.

Yea the stock gauges do suck but I don't want to add a custom speedo and tach/shift light.

not really needed with an A20. They don't make power past 6k

The stock tach isn't so bad especially when in gear. The slower reaction catches up to the engine under load. IMO big tachs on the dash of cars that unless turbo'd aren't going faster than 15s in the quarter. I believe that would be called lol

But still got the point. If you had a cam you can make power past redline but that is the only way or n20.

N20 wont make u faster, it makes u quicker. If you car tops out @ 120mph, it's still gonna top out @ 120mph with Nos. If you upgrade your Valve train, then you can increase your powerband.

what I meant was the factory tach reacts slower than a aftermarket tach. When our cars are in gear there not going to accellerate fast enough to make a difference. Except maybe in first.

Well n2o will give you more power and a higher top speed. The true top spees of the 3G with a 5speed is 160mph but we don't have that power to get there. That is why everyone can only get around 120mph cause it takes a long time to accelerate up to that point due to the lack of power.

I don't know how good the mechanical speedo is... plus you have to take into account the wheel size.

I know my transmission slips a lot once I get up to 125... I don't go much over 70 since my right front tire wobbles... I don't want to end up like oldschool #1

Yea the speedo actually pegs out just before 0 or about 165mph. I made some custom gauges that continue on to that point. Just need more power to actually get there.

Just imagine if you built the top end to make the redline about 7500. We will need a bigger speedo!

why are your guys's cars so slow?? well maybe not slow but, i mean err no top speed. my prelude i've wound the speedo right off the end thats over 220 km/h. i also have a handheld gps and at 1150 ft elevation the fastest i have gone is 138.9 mph. then i ran out of road.. another time we used cardboard and taped all openings on the front end. That time the speedo was right off the end aswell but the rpm came right up into the 6800 range and if i'm not mistaken our limiter is factory set at 7250.. this is the run that made me buy the gps

If this shit is true than I might just have to take the A20 out of my old accord and put it in my GSR.

I had my LX-i out on I93 going down a hill trying to keep this civic from passing me once, and it was maxed out around 115 or so. This was right after I had a tune up as well. The accord is in good shape and had about 175,000 miles on it, no oil burn.

I haven't taken my new car past about 125, but car and driver says they tested the 1992 GS-R and it reached a top speed of 136 mph on flat ground at their test track.

Thats pretty good, and I have the same problem with running out of road. I'm not sure what the rev limiter on the lude is but on the accord it is about 6800.
