every time i push it into the 100s I feel like I'm taking miles away from the life of my tired beast....need to finish college on with this baby.
I'd rather just save money by driving this old honda for as long as possible and then getting a Mooney and going fast in that (160 kts = 180mph).
no offense cm, but i know some guys on this board drive 2x harder than some of us and they have over 400xxx miles on their 3g.
yeah, that's fine, but mostly I dont' go fast because I can't do driver's school again for another year.Originally Posted by accordlxi2.0

Yea, my boss beats the hell out of his 3g, with 650k on the ticker (and still ticking!) I have no idea how anyone could ever drive a car that much, but i guess it is getting up toward 20 years old...it was made in december 85, and he bought it in january 86. and its still his daily driver.
1990 accord.
5-speed.
well iwas born in February of 86 and im 18 on the 5th of febraury, so that makes the car 18 years old, lol... $650,000 thats a lot of miles, any rebuilds or anything?
Wow that's nuts. I've had mine up there and the ride only got smoother the faster i went. Then again what kinda set up youhave? I was on brand new stock-shocks at the time and my tires are 6 inches wide. So that may have something to do with it.no bull, i've gotten mine to 127, it felt like my car was gonna fall apart around me

I've had mine to 130, and my car rides smooth as glass, except for the loud exhaust.
i dont have a 5th gear right now but in 4th it hits 100 at 5000 rpms.

Its so cool to see your speedo maxed out
Wow, its been well over a year since I started this thread. Ah, i'm so much more wise about my accord now. After I rear ended some riced out Integra on the freeway a few months ago i'm driving a lot more carefull now, paying more attention. I swear if I get another car it will have ABS. The integra was messed up good too, his fiberglass bumper was falling apart, whilst I had two small dents in my hood, haha.
I think i have a problem... I have a 1988 honda accord LXi and it is efi. well anyway, i went to a local race track strait away, its like 5 miles long. anyhow it took me no time to reach 60mph, but when i got up to that my car was running really rich and wouldnt barly get past 95mph like starving for air... i have a cold air intake so do you think it may be timing?

Yah, tegs are 1.8. 4000rpms in 4th does not equal 135 mph.Originally Posted by lilphillie78

Yah, thats about as fast as my 3gee ever went with me in with my uncle driving. It starts to feel like its really moving going that fast. It still had more but he backed off.Originally Posted by f22a89accordLxi
Beg to differ. JDM Integras had a 1.6L. http://www.torontoracing.ca/video/tech_hndacodes.html

Yeah I didn't take into account he said 93. Whoops.
I was on a run down to Daytona, Fl on I-95, 1st time I got to 110mph then the sunroof wind deflector started to vibrate "almost crapped".
Second time around I took the deflector off just in case I had an opportunity to try again, took it to just past 125 and the front end started to shake. So
i figured since it was only stock and probably in need of new bushings I'd better back it off.
Funny thing is that there was no one on the road at all after St Augustine, FL just past a Hwy patrol giving someone a ticket, there was two of them, so I figured I had a good shoot at topping out.
Can't wait to upgrade with the mods.

i've found that the stock motors werent meant to go above 100 with a cracked radiator....I was going about 130 (almost had it pegged) when the car overheated, and just shut down from overheating...you want to talk about a scary feeling, no power anything over 100 scared me shitless.btw, this is with an 89 lx-i
i got my 88 LX sedan to 95 on a 4-lane divided highway going around curves and that stuff, not straight at all, passing cars but not at 95, probly like around 85 at pass but it didn't feel like i had much more that that 95 at all, probly at 4k rpms but it still felt like it wanted to slow down to 60 or 70...any ideas what to do?(all stock)
GOT THE 1982 RX-7!!! NEW LOVE IN MY LIFE!!!
fuel filter, plugs, the usual prob need to be cleaned....just cleaning it up makes a world's diffrence in the performance.
