    Re: Bay Area Autocross

Sorry you guys couldn't make it. It was way too early. I think I got 2 hours of sleep, 'cause I'm used to working nights and it's almost impossible for me to fall asleep early.

    Here's my times!

    1st run: 62.021
2nd run: 63.630 (was a 61, but almost spun out and hit 2 cones so +2 sec)
    3rd run: 60.895
    4th run: 60.338

On all of my runs there was always somthing that went awry...or askew, or afoul. Popped out of gear or missed a gear, went into a corner way too fast and slid around like crazy, etc. But my car felt great. I just have to become less of a hack driver.

And you guys should definately try to come out and run sometime. You get to drive like a total madman and not worry about crashing or getting thrown in jail. It's great.

I found a video of someone's run from Saturday. This is the same course I ran on today but in reverse.

    Re: Bay Area Autocross

I'd be running in the afternoon for this one, so I just have to get there and get registered before 12pm. If I can convince my friend to run his Focus I might go earlier, since he'd be in H stock.

I'll have to check those seats out if I get a chance. I saw maroon ones on a 4ws when I was there last time but they looked like they were biodegrading.

You don't have to sign up, you can just show up and register. At the Sacramento event they would give you a paper with numbers to tape on your car if you didn't have your own numbers. SFR is probably the same, but you might want to bring some painter's tape just in case you have to make your own. My wife made some numbers for me out of some of that magnetic vinyl.

It's $35 entry fee plus another $15 for a temporary SCCA membership. If you get an actual SCCA membership you can register your car online and you don't have to pay the extra $15.

You'd need to figure out what class you're in so you know whether to show up for the morning or the afternoon runs.

Most of the info you can find here: http://www.sfrscca.org/content/view/7538/177/

If you have more questions just let me know.

    Re: Bay Area Autocross

Man, today was brutal. I got beat downs from both the sun and the track.

It was super hot (at Candlestick?!), and the course was a bit trickier than the one I ran at Mather. I DNF'd three times ON THE SAME CORNER And I forgot to register under Novice class

Oh well, I got some more practice.

Next weekend is a Sac event at the San Joaquin Fairgrounds in Stockton (April 25th & 26th). Most likely I'll be going on Sunday.

I added more links to my first post for the SFR schedule and info on what to do if you want to run your car at an event.

    Re: Bay Area Autocross

Hey Not trying to thread jack but I think this would be a good post to add some info, so there is 2 auto-x groups in Santa Rosa one is a Porsche club and the other is a group called ESCA , both are 30$ a day and you get between 6-10 runs a day. Esca you need to join but Porsche is a show up and race. next one is ESCA on aug 1st, then porsche is aug 8th.
