need some help...

so my car hasnt ran since july i think and i just gave up on it but i figered just to save some money on buying a new one id come back here.
anyways, to put this the easiest way i can, it will turn over and start (sometimes) but it wont idle. ive checked the vac lines, i just dont know what could be causing the problem. anyone else with this problem?

Did you check the line the pcv valve is in? If that line cracks it is a BIG vacuum leak.
Are you getting fuel? spark?

im getting fuel and spark because it'll run if i keep my foot on the gas. if i shift into drive i need to use the break as a clutch and rev the engine to keep it fromdying as well. i think that is just needing tranny fluid though.

and no i didnt check the pcv. where is that at?

On the intake manifold in front of the carb you will see a hose that comes up, makes a U and goes back down to the manifold. The valve itself sits in a hole on the manifold on the left side of that U. If that all looks good the hosing continues down below the manifold to a breather box on the rear of the engine.
