    4 piston calipers

I put brake pads on a 2002? Nissan Xterra. Seems to have the Honda type setup with twin pistons. Anyone wanna do some research on this.

    Re: 4 piston calipers

    damn you caught me fast!

A Nissan Xterra is a four wheel drive sport utility vehicle. Its has live axles leaf springs in the rear comes in 3.3L V-6 and some 4 cylinder motor too. I'm trying to find the rotor dimension as i write this.

    http://www.wheels.ca/newvehicles/profile/4894

    EDIT

11.1 himmm that Type R size interesting.

    http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/mm...tor~parts.html

heres the bracket picture. it looks like the mounting holes are not spaced apart enough. I'm thinking the caliper might bolt to a Type R caliper bracket or maybe the stock bracket too.

The bracket I think is 5.500" I can't find my drawing atm. Thats center to center. That dim. is pretty standard of Honda cars I have found so far.

The caliper hole to hole Im not sure of. I think there at least 2 differant dimensions.

There Akenebono brakes prolly used by all the Japanese manufactures. Just like Bendix brakes used to be on everything here stateside for like 20 years, or PBR are now.

Interesting. I happen to have a right side caliper for a 2000 Frontier, which is the pickup version of the XTerra. It's not a direct replacement (according to advanceautoparts.com) for the 2002 X but it's really close. Don't know what the difference is. I measure the mounting hole spacing at 180-190mm or so.

    Re: 4 piston calipers

was sorta hoping that the accords ran 90mm spacing mounting holes
that way toyota hilux 4 piston calipers would be an option
super plentiful and SOOOOOO easy to rebuild
can get them for like $90 a pair

    Re: 4 piston calipers

I measured my old LXi calipers and I got 6.250" center to center. So some one slap one on there and see what you get!

No never lol I like my unique compact 4 piston calipers.

I bought those from the junk yard in New Zealand back in 2003 I think. I sold them to SiR (Rooz) down in Miami for his 87 4dr.

should be able to use a large disk with them then, may need to make a bracket to bolt them to the stock hub tho i reckon.

    Re: 4 piston calipers

Just thinking outloud but i wonder if the Nissan bracket could be redrilled to our bolt mount holes (2).

I was thinking that they would work with the 10.3" brakes but its a really big caliper when you look at them side by side. Prolly need an 11" brake like the Type R ,redrilled, like I use.
