Not really expecting it to. I have no problem with old threads with useful information, it's just annoying searching for something and going through 10 or 20 threads of "where can I get this" and whatnot. Hell, 70% of all useful information can't be found on the first search page.

i think it would be awesome if users could delete there own threads... i would defiantly love to go back and delete alot of the old useless threads i posted

(for example : the could someone photoshop a wing on my car , who else blasts justin timberlake in there car(WTF WAS I THINKING !) can someone resize this picture for my sig (about 5 threads asking that.) and 90% of threads that just contain people flaming me )

    me too you

I am just thankful this is not like cb7tuner where you have to wear baby shoes forever, that shit is FAIL
Or like on PP where there are sections that are nazi camps.
Or Carolina Hondas where there is so much shit being posted that I need windshield wipers on my eyeballs
or any of the other forums mentioned here already, we have a good group.

disclaimer: I enjoy the afore mentioned forums regardless of how they compare. They provide the services I needed when I read there.

oh, not to get off topic but with all the mods and admins here, i was just wondering, when ur accord of the month, does ur accord of the month badge under ur name go away after a month or do u always have it? just wondering. thanks guys
hey you're right those are both valid questions/points.

    to the first...
As mods or admins, we do have certain sections that we're primarily responsible for, but as many have already said, there's not a whole ton of 'moderating' that needs to happen on this site, and none of us are very territorial, so if we need to clean something up, lock a thread, etc, even if it's not in our sections, we'll do what we have to do and let eachother know.

As for the Accord of the Month, I'm not really sure. I think that those icons are pretty much accurate for the existing AOM election. There may be some instances when the AOM logo will stay for a few months, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't stay forever. As for the AOY, I think I've seen at least two members with that logo under their handle, so that may be a permanent logo.

If it is, maybe we should put a year on the AOY logo so we can know they were "AOY 2008" etc.

sorry your questions got buried in the garbage posts to follow (mine included).

    Re: To the admins II

Ok, it's time for me to make my grand entrance and grace you with my presence.

That's a joke in case anyone didn't get it....

Regarding the DB errors, we're not exactly sure why they're still happening. Joe worked very hard to back up the DB and basically reinstall Vbulletin in it's base format. The thinking was that some of the add-ons were causing conflicts with the DB. That doesn't look like it's necessarily the case now. So we're now leaning toward the possibility that we happen to be on a version of VB that was bad for DB errors and because of that we will be renewing our license very soon to upgrade to the latest version. We'll give that about a month and see if the errors continue. If they don't then I'm sure Joe will start adding some of the features back to the site and go from there. Whenever there is a DB error, only Joe or I can fix it. We're the only ones who have access to the server tools to run a MYSQL DB repair tool. Unfortunately we both can't be on the website totaling 24 hours a day but we're not going to give anyone else server level rights.

Regarding the moderators and the possibility of adding new ones. We're always keeping an eye out for good moderators and if we feel that someone will be a good choice, we'll approach them about it. Granted it's been awhile since we've added new ones and we're making a more concerted effort to look for qualified candidates.

Now, what makes someone a qualified candidate? I'm not going to give specifics of what we look for because I don't think we have to justify how we select moderators. But I do want to say that the easiest way to take yourself out of consideration is to ask to be a moderator or campaign to be a moderator. Having one of the fastest or most tricked out accords makes you a candidate and probably a winner for AOM or AOY but doesn't mean you're a good fit for a moderator. Having a ton of knowledge about the accord and helping other members, makes you a valuable member to this board, but again doesn't necessarily mean you would make a good moderator. I stand by our selection process because we have some great moderators. Even the ones who may be inactive now, they were great. Choosing a moderator never has been nor will be a popularity contest.

That's another thing, this site doesn't need near the amount of moderation as other similiar car enthusiast sites. I believe this is the most autonomous car enthusiast web site out there. Our member base is great. There isn't the need for a lot of moderation. There was a time where we had to crack down hard (anyone remember Nate?) and we did. We then slowly relaxed our policies.

I know i haven't hit every topic in this reply, but I've already written a book so I'll stop now.
I'm just like any other member on this board.......
