Also see that idle is set to specified rpm. Increasing your idle to compensate for worn motor mounts (we've all been there) too much will cause a fluctuating idle.
another thing, the cold idle air valve behind the tb towards the firewall, i took the 2 screws off and the little lid and screwd the plastic valve back in.. other than that, also what dr snooze siad.
check the vac advance pods in the distributor also. if they are leaky they can cause irratic idle due to incorrect timing and vacuum loss. i've had to replace a couple on higher mileage 3g's.
