    Wheel sizes 83 sedan

Stupid question of the day, what is the wheel dimensions of an 83 sedan. I think the bolt pattern is 4x100? But my Honda shop manual only has tyre size, not rim offset, bolt pattern etc. I would like to buy some alloys for my car at a later date, and if I spot a bargain I don't want to buy the wrong ones!! I've tried the site search facility with no success, but I am a technomuppet. Cheers, John.

I'd guess your car has the 13x5.5 inch rims on it. They are indeed 4x100. Any wheel that fits a Civic / Integra / etc will fit on your car. Which is typically a +38 offset I do believe. I've got Integra wheels on my car (15x6), and I've seen a couple 2nd gens with newer Honda wheels and pretty much any 4x100 Honda rim will work.

The TSW wheels on my '82 came of a 1990 Prelude. Rover 200/400 wheels fit as do Vauxhall 4-studs. There's a site on the internet somewhere that says what manufacturers wheels will fit others... but I can't find it!

One thing though... with alloys, lengthened studs should be fitted to the hubs. I'm taking the alloys off my car partly for this reason as the wheel nuts only make a few turns before being fully tightened. I'd like to fit the alloys to my '85 though so I'll need to see about having those hubs modified.

On saying about fitting lengthened wheels studs, is this normal practice & how is it done?

I recalled a work colleague a few years ago going on about having to do this to his car, hence the reason I mentioned it. Only, I might like alloys on the '85 in my avatar but I want it to be safe & all...

I don't know the facts about it, but I've seen people do it quite often. I imagine that it's pretty safe. As long as your common sense tells you it's not too long...

My EPC for my 83 gen2 shows 4 different wheel stud part Nos., 2 by Tagna Rashi, 2 by Tokai TRW. As Honda fitted alloys as well as steels, I would assume one set of each is longer than the other, but the catalogue does not say which ones!!

Oh... what I meant was that the current standard studs for the steel wheels are too short imo for safely fitting alloys on to. Do you have lengthened studs on your car... assuming it originally had steels?

And in any event how are they fitted?

Yeah I had the steelies stock. I've got Honda alloys on it now though, the studs seem to work just fine. I dunno if aftermarket wheels would work too, but the studs seem ok, not really any shorter than normal I don't think. Maybe it's a difference between our markets though...

I get like 7 & a half turns or of the nut on each lug.

I drove mine like that for a few years & never had a problem, but I don't think its the best though...
