    Exclamation Fouled Plugs

Hey guys my plugs have been fouling up lately and it's been running crappy.A mechanic i know said it was most likely my valve seals.I know my valve seals are bad but would this be causing my plugs to foul up.Is there anything i can add to the motor to help this,i can't afford to do the valve saeals right now.

As a temporary fix do you have 'valve stem seal additive' in the States, Made over here by a company called Millers Oils. My son stuck some in his oil on a smokey old Ford CVH engine and it cured it, I don't know how long for because 2k later he totalled the transmission, so we scrapped the car....
Cost about £5 and cheaper than a rebuild.

if your stem seals are bad, oil will seep down into the cylinders and foul the plugs, it also will smoke when you first start it up. I know when i replaced mine, the exaust ones had deteriorated to nothing.

Yes I'm carbed but when i start it up in the morning it runs fine til I get to town, then it starts tolose power and bucks.I changed the rotor button, checked the timing took off fuel line to see if it was getting enough gas and it was fine, even put in supreme gas to see if that will help.I also wired the choke open and ditched the air filter cause it was dirty, will see in morning how it runs.

    Re: Fouled Plugs

You never mentioned the dirty air filter, petrol engines, like humans, need air to function. 3 rules of petrol engines, fuel/air/spark. If one is missing, no go. But too much air will lean the engine out and can burn out your valves. Depending on how clogged your air filter was, you could be suffering from nothing more serious than plug sooting, like when you forget to push the choke back in.

    Re: Fouled Plugs

Try pulling the air filter lid off while the engine is hot, and see if the choke is fully opened. Try that before swapping carbs.
