carb cleaner fixed my problem while i was spraying it

but once i stop spraying it it comes back again
but the popping sound goes away and the idle gets steady and the car seems like new again. but once i stop spraying it on the carb then it will come back. i do not know what is wrong or what i need to fix on it sense i really dont know anything about carbs anything would help me out it is probably something so simple too. i just cant see it and i know that you guys all know what your talking about and i have took all of yours advise and it has gotten me from knowing nothing at all about how my accord runs to changing the oil and filters and gas filter and all the stuff you guys helped me with and im so close to fixing this problem!!!

If you run better when spraying hydrocarbons into the intake, it probably means you are running lean. Either a vacuum leak or a fuel delivery problem. Most likely a vacuum leak.

Spray all of the vacuum lines down and all of the intake gaskets too. When it starts running better again, you have found your leak.

If that doesn't help make sure your fuel pressure is up to spec. Maybe run some fuel system cleaner through the thing while you are at it too.

i ran some techron it didnt do much and im using chevron gas now its doing better.

i will do that 2marrow its 10 pm and i got to wake up at 4 2 go to work.
but im so close to fixing it im so happy too cuz i love this car.

what about taking off the vacuum lines im going to be moving to idaho in august 2010 so maybe i could put a weber on or just take these dam vacuum tubes off there killing me.

A weber would be great. I love mine. So much better than the old carb, and so many fewer problems. Mine still runs a little lean sometimes, but I still need to finish tuning it in all the way. Just find that vacuum leak and you should be ok for now.

so when i go to look for the vacuum leak. how do i start doing with with the carb cleaner do i spray it all on the tubes while the car is running or spray it on them while its not.

from what you told me about your plugs they are burned from the engine running way too lean, the insulator is burned. if you keep running it like that,you are going to burn a hole in a piston. when the insulator melts it's way too hot in there. if you replace those plugs,which you should, get some v power after you fix the vaccume leak, if you want send the fried ones to me so i can see them clearly and i'll be able to tell you more about whats going on.

i did it and the cars idle was good when i sprayed it but idk if its cuz i have the air filter hose from the side of the car going into the air box removed and the carb cleaner was getting in that way but i couldnt find a specific location

by i think the pcv valve i sprayed it and it was all bubbly everytime i sprayed it.

i put v powers inthere right now

and i still cant find the damn leak i sprayed the carb cleaner all in it and and by the pcv vavle it was all bubbly and on some of the vacuum lines the cars idle went back to normal but i couldnt find a specific location on a broken line but again im not quite sure what im looking for too.

You might just want to run all new vacuum lines in that area. Only do one at a time though. You may also want to check where the head meets the intake manifold.

It probably got bubbly around the pcv because the intake manifold is heated by coolant. Spraying a liquid with a low boiling point on something hot...well, you get boiling carb cleaner.

ok yeah that makes sense why it was boiling then

and this weekend im going to take the air box this weekend i want to put a short ram on and ill look at all the vacuum tube some i tried to take off but they are stuck on there really tight and look very brittle i want to take them off to see if they were messed up but they wouldnt come off idk what to spray on it to loosing it up, that pb blaster stuff i think thats what it is called.

if you see a vaccume line that's so brittle you can't take it off, go ahead and replace it,vaccume hose is cheap. brittle hoses often leak, what area did you spray where the idle went back to normal? look at the back of the carb base, you will see some very short vaccume lines coming out of it, these often leak,and will make your engine run like crap

You won't be reusing them, so don't worry about them. Just be careful not to damage anything else.

if you need to get a bunch of vaccume lines and start replacing them one at a time. make sure you mark the numbers back on the hose to avoid confusion later. you can take the top off of the black box and run the hoses all the way back inside if needed. or just splice them with hose couplers near it. usually the hoses near and inside of the box are in pretty good shape. it's the ones exposed to engine heat and chemicals for years that are normally shot. just remember,just like spark plug wires,take off one at a time. you really need to get a hand vaccume pump. i'll try to help you through the diagnostics.
