tommy mentioned it before. not sure what ever came of it though. I think the NZ guys need to find more b18 housings or guyhatesmycar needs to find a way to make them.

I was looking at my A18 bellhousing before I chopped it up for research. It actually looks like the dowels are in a similar location to the B20A. If so, the wronged bolt holes could be solved with a little milling and an adapter plate.
the s20 (92-95 civic) trans guide pins are an exact match to the b20a and the center line of the crank matches the center line of the trans main shaft perfectly. Minor fab has to be done to the bolt holes to bolt it up.
By the way. that is the speed sensor out of the b20a auto trans. its a perfect fit to.

Wow, that's way closer than the A20 bellhousing ever was. How about the starter mounting location. Also, I would want to confirm the input shaft centerline with the crank bores with a dial indicator, but if it looks the same, it probably is.
What spline axles does the S20 transmission use?
the civic has less splines you will need to use the inner joint from a 92-95 civic for the axles. but with doing that you will have to mill the side of the block because of the size of the axle.

unless the 87 Integra Intermediate shaft will fit the s20 trans(87 Tegy has a short shaft just like the b2k5 trans.) I'm going to pull one from the jy to confirm it fits so i will keep you you updated
the auto b20 starter fits in like a glove but only one of the bolts lines up. i'll have to check later to see if the civic starter will spline to the b20 flywheel. also you can use the civic clutch disc with the b20 pressure plate(you cant use the b20 clutch disc)(it has different splines)but the overall width of the civic disc is only 1/8" larger that the b20 disc. so it should fit the flywheel just fine.
thats sick bro...great job...

i like the way this thread is going...hope my 5 speed does not mess up on me

it shouldn't if it just sits in a shed for years on end :kekeke:
you know you wont have to worry about the hydro clutch conversion if u get a 88-81 civic gear box? and its the same bolt pattern :D

I like how this is going! That's very interesting. Might make those B20A automatic motors, and longblocks just a bit more valuable.
Herrr no. The 88-91 D series Transmission is exactly like our cable transmission. No hydro fork or anything there.
FYI, the 88-89 B20A5 flywheel sits further from the engine block compared to the JDM Accord B20A. If you use this flywheel, the Civic starter might fit like a glove. I used the B20A5 flywheel in my car ans had to space the starter a bit in order to make it work 100%

Hmm I was just looking... won't that output shaft hit the oilpan?
look closely at the picture below that one 2ndGG, what do you notice?
something looks different with fitament.
Yeah the bolt holes don't line up at all. But I think with the guide dowels lining up at least it makes welding something to the bellhousing easier. You could extend those upper bolt holes on the transmission up a little higher. Also, no dogbone mount!! Is that what you're suggesting? And then of course, the cable shift linkage which is FTL.
Great thread! Thumbs up for all of the research you are putting into this
the rear mount will bolt to z6 trans. you just have to re-drill the lower hole on the mount about a 1/4 inch higher.
as far as the axle hitting on the oil pan goes. IF!! wait let me backtrack. the 86-89 teggy also has a intermediate shaft just like the b20a trans. (meaning to of the same size axles) so!!! if that shaft from the teggy will spline into the z6 trans. we will have no problem.
But you still gotta have a place to bolt the other end of the intermediate shaft. And that is usually on the back of the block. I don't see it happening with the shaft that close underneath of the block. You should slam the oil pan on there really quick and get pictures of that.
ok i'll get some pics of it tonight
Here you go guys. as you can see the Intermediate shaft does not hit on the oil pan. I'm 1 step closer to having a new hybrid. "B20Z6" I shall Call it.
