i got an 87 carb accord and i think something serious happened. It crapped out on thr highway, the guage went straight to hot then back to normal and then back to hot again. then it started makig a strange knocking or rattling sound and i pulled over it died and puffed out some serious smoke. I'm thinking head gasket but what could be causing the knocking sound?? Any possibalty that its completely shot??
yeah i think you might have overheated it and blown the head gasket / warped the head. the knocking might be the bottom end knocking cause the oils thinned out cause its hot, smoking is probably the same reason

^^ wut he said. check ur oil, if its milky then ur headgasket is deff gone.
