    MYSTERY valve

    Hey guys hows everyone...

I had a coolant leak this morning got under the car and found a valve that goes inline from the large coolant metal pipe to the intake (or maybe carb), it is only on with 5/16 hose so my question is do I NEED it? 85 accord hatch 1.8 carb. It was broken and has a spring inside hope I dont need it no one knows what it is!

I would go to the Honda Dealer and see if you can get one first. With strange little parts like that, they tend to have them in stock. Doesn't look like much fun to get to at the wrecking yard.

it controls the temp of the coolant that flows through your carb.

    Thanks Lost...

Then my guess is there is no real value except to speed up the warm up process, but i did just replace it with a splice so it should do the same thing...

I had a parts list, but I couldn't figure out which part on the list corresponded to that one on the diagram. They didn't display the number on the list for some reason. You could just print off that diagram and go into the dealer. I bet they'd be able to figure it out really quick.

Here's the parts list for that diagram. No way to figure out what part is what:

And I noticed by going to the other sections we can get part numbers for the other parts we are always looking for, seems like a good way to see if other dealers have old parts in stock.

Yeah thats a good site, and so is Majestic Honda. I always just call my dealer locally, they can look at Vintage Parts inventory and check the inventory of all the other dealers.
