Well, I got around to installing my Eibach springs, courtesy of 2ndgenguy, and my Koni red's last weekend.

After about a minute of flailing with the spring compressor and strut on the floor, I got tired of that. Found a lathe just laying around, so I used that as a vice.
The Koni instructions recommended grinding the crimp off of the struts. Grinding. I fucking hate grinding.
The front struts went in just like they were supposed to.

The rears, on the other hand, didn't. The factory housings were about half an inch too long for the Koni's to fit properly, and the counterbore that the knurled cap of the Koni presses itself into was too far up the housing to allow me to get the nut onto the stud at the bottom of the shock.
In what would be a showstopper for most, I simply bored back the counterbore, and turned the housing to length.
You can see here how much too long the housing is for the Koni insert. On this one, I turned it to length with the insert inside, the second one I simply machined to length before installing the insert.
It comes apart before it goes back together.....
And Voila! In a day or two after the springs settle, I'll update you all with the new measurements!

Looks good, Konis are ftw

looks really good..
200+ ALL MOTOR LS VTEC
looks sweet! i believe you are the first lowered 2g hatch =O
1988 Honda Accord LX-i Coupe 123k miles.
Yeah first lowered hatch on the forum! It's already looking just like it should! Where did you set the Konis?
did you turn them from soft to hard or hard to where u want them, cause konis have a tendancy to be stiffer than others if wound back the other way. Mine are all set on half but its not stiff enough![]()
Nice. Now get some wheels![]()
nice score with the parts. Hopefully it settles soon because it looks like the saggy stock springs were lower. lol

I look at these threads with great interest as I want my '82 lowered as it looks ridiculous with such a massive space between the tyres & the arches.
Only... there doesn't seem to much of a difference between before & after?
Granted, I know your springs still need to settle but I'd like to see a drop of another inch or two to get it looking right. Especially if you're gonna fit lower profile tires in the future. It seems an awful lot of work (nicely done I must say) for only a little gain.
I'll look out for the updated pics/measurements & then I'll maybe have to eat my words!
The springs have actually settled in quite nicely, the wheel gap is still large, but you can tell the car is definitely hugging the wheels more. The improvement in handling is simply beyond description. It's obvious now that the cheapo 185/70 R13 Motomaster doughnuts are the weak link now. I'm gonna drive it a bit more, then take the "after" pictures and measurements sometime this week.
Oh yeah, and I set the Koni's to full stiff, then backed out 1/4 turn. I really couldn't tell any difference by pulling by hand on the shaft from full stiff. Full soft provided almost no resistance by hand.
I can tell you, Den, it's a very subtle drop. Only 1.3 inches. Even my car still isn't really slammed, but it now looks just the way it should be. It looks good without looking obviously lowered. Though, I will admit, I desire lower, and am plotting new things.
I ain't into lowered cars as such but I've always thought the 2geez sat too high... except for my old rusty '85 which was always about an inch or so lower than the '82 when parked nose to nose. And that handled really well but I was never aware that it had any modifications...
My current '85 runs standard 165SR13's but they were newly fitted before I got the car & do nothing for the handling. I might swap the 15" wheels - 195/50 - over to it meantime to see what difference that makes & have an even bigger gap in the arches!
