How do we feel about my new (to me) seats? I know I'm gonna get heat from some ppl about how '80's they look, but let's think about it... What years are our cars? At the end of the day, I think the colors better match the completely monochrome look I'm going for, and the shape/style of the seats (IMO) suits the angles of the car. For the price, I couldn't go wrong. I will reupholster them one day and replace the light grey/silver with an 'almost white', but for now, I'll just hit 'em with the Bissell green machine to get them as clean as possible.
Anyone know what they came out of? ...oh and $30 for the pair, so it was a bargain in my book. The drivers seat has a tilting seat pan adjustment, lumbar adjustment, and bolster adjustment (ie. They can be opened/closed depending on how fat you are or how tightly you want to be held in place.)

I love how 80s they look man! Do eeet!!! I kinda wanna say AW11 MR2, but not 100% sure....
I like em sharp lookin seats ort2 look great in ur ride
ok here's the weekends progress report:
1. Those seats will look good if I could ever get the little bastards into the car. I fear though that I may have to scrap the idea of using them and just sell them. The damn friggin sliders/brackets are welded to the seatpan and the outer bracket is actually part of the structure of the seat (ie. it extends up and has the pivot pin for the seatback). Who does that? Dammit.
2. My old power rack has been removed, and the new de-powered (or manualized) rack has been installed along with new tie-rod ends. Now that should have only taken about an hour to swap out, but no thanks to the faaking passenger side tie-rod end that refused to come off (I broke my arm puller, then resorted to the pickle fork. Still no luck. So I broke out the real ball-joint separator tool, and just about ruined that too. Nope still stuck). So I resorted to just unscrewing the tie-rod from the end and pulling off the entire fooking knuckle and swapping it out with another spare knuckle I had in my parts pile.
What I'm pissed about is that because of that, I had to use my new tie-rod ends which I was not going to use until I replaced everything on the knuckles. (ie. lower ball joints, and wheel bearings). So now i'll just have to be VERY gentle when I attempt to remove these. Oh how nice would it be if I could just keep the car on jack-stands and not have to worry about getting wheels back on it every time and pushing it back into the garage every night. What a pain in the balls.
-Mark D.
oh man i hope you can get the seats to fit!! they will look so damn good

Welcome to my world Mark, I spend 3 days taking one ball joint on drivers side, with multiple tools and methods. almost broke my arm. But I hear you on thing sitting tight on our 20yr cars.
S*cks about seats, I'd really loved to see those in your car, those looks just nice and complement 80's. It newer would look goofy. As for wheels, cant you just leave car outside on stands? its not like someone would come with wheels to steal it. Just cover it up and hide tools in your garage as I do.
Its prttey fnuny how you can raed tihs eintre snetnece with all tehse ellters out of palce...
My Build Thread
You're obviously not married with kids. lol. Nah man, my wife would castrate me if I told her I was just gonna leave it in the driveway up on jackstands. It's bad enough I have my old pickup just sitting next to my garage with 4 flat tires.
Oh well, I don't mind knowing she's locked up in the garage when I leave for work, and that it's not going to have to worry about rain, cats sleeping on it, and the wife bumping into it by accident with her overgrown suv.
-Mark D.
You're not working on it in the garage?
Nope. If you saw my garage you'd understand. What I don't get is that my house was built in '52. In the late 40's or early 50's, cars were generally huge. I know for a fact (yes I did try) that if you tried to park my dad's '56 Dodge in the garage, yes you can drive in, and shut the garage door, but you can't open the car door to get out. ...and if you could crawl through the window, you better crawl out the passenger window so you can get out because you're only shutting the garage door if you bump the back wall and nick the bumper with the door.
Long and short of it is that the damn thing is just slightly larger than a shoe-box.
Yep. I need to get it running well again, then on craigslist it goes. Been holding onto it mainly because it's a pretty uncommon (don't wanna call it rare) Desert Runner package. (ie. factory 3" lift, bucket seats, two-tone paint scheme, twin-tube rear bumper, etc.)

yeah I woke up one morning and was like WTF... JUMANJI in my driveway
-Mark D.
HAhaha! I LOL'd at that one too.
ok, made a lil progress the past few nights....
Head is now fully assembled, I just need to finish up with all the valve adjustments. (I am not 100% pleased with the way the head went together, but we'll see what happens.)
Block just got a fresh coat of paint, new freeze plugs, and a cylinder hone tonight. Tomorrow I pick up a new oil pump and I'll hopefully get the new rings on the pistons, then get the pistons/rods/crank/all bearings installed on the bottom end.
Then maybe Friday night I'll be able to bolt up the head and tranny to the motor. It's a real long-shot, but I'm fighting an uphill battle to get it done. ...uphill or not, I'm still not giving up hope.
-Mark D.
jumanji was on tv last night...it was as good as I remembered

It's got Kirsten Dunst before anyone knew who she was.
As you saw this weekend though, the Jumanji jungle has been 'slightly' trimmed back from the truck. That's it though, the truck now has a name: Jumanji.
...So a damn faaking MOTH flew onto the block and landed right in the wet friggin paint, the proceeded to drag its powdery self all over the damn place. ...it's been removed and the blems painted over, but what a ball buster.
-Mark D.
i like the seats Mark.
the truck is sweet.
fuck a moth!
and i might acutally have the front strut forks from my 88 still sitting in my garage somewhere, still on my old struts.
i'll check it out after work and get back with that info tonight.
-Harvey
ok, you're right she was young. (here's my disclaimer on that pedo statement: I looked her up on imdb at one point and saw she was in Jumanji. ...was like 'huh, didn't know that'. And for some reason that tid-bit of worthless info stuck.)
Just like looking up Hayden PanaQW$%$% (dunno) on imdb yielded info that she was the annoying tot in Remember the Titans. Didn't know that. Another 'huh, no shit'.
Ok, onto the car.... (dammit Steve)
I'm hoping to pick up the Oil Pump tonight (Autozone couldn't find one of the 3 they said they had in stock last night). Will get that installed, scrape the block free of any gasket remnants, pull the crank, rods, and pistons from another block and get them in.
I gotta pick up a new torque wrench tonight too. Mine doesn't seem to be 'clicking' when it gets to torque.
-Mark D.
Dude Hayden PanaQW$%$% is like 16... looking her up on IMDB... yeah for the background on her acting history... LOL!
