yes, pretty much just a stock rebuild. still low compression, no fancy rods, pistons, crank work. Stock valvetrain. Just a mild cam grind and a little port-matching on the head for the most part. Just want to get it back in and running that's all.

    Re: Mark's Official Build Thread

Right, so a little progress report.

The engine in as of last night. Tranny/clutch, intake manifold, and other various bits still need to be bolted up though.

I just walked back to my desk from the kitchen here at work and something just went wrong in my back. I think it's just muscular as I've been nursing it for a few weeks now, but right now it's really uncomfortable. I'll pop a few Tylenol or Ibuprofen and see if it lets off a little. Either way, the show must go on, so tonight I'm going to try to get teh tranny and clutch in, and maybe even the axles, knuckles, forks, etc.

So to the few of you that knew my plan on getting the motor in by shear brute force (aka. slide the engine and tree off the stand and carry it over to the car, and turn/lower it in place.) and tried to convince me otherwise can now say "I told you so you dumbass".

Overall it went fairly smoothly and without much complication. But man is that faacker heavy.

I can do a clutch job in about 4 hours plus or minus 30 minutes. I could knock out all of that in a few hours.

Wait you lifted the engine by yourself? With the head on it? Jesus man! I've put an engine in before by lifting it in, but it had no head on it and there were two of us! :-o

yes, exactly as you see it in that pic. the tree on the stand included. I just pulled the pin off the back of the tree, and slid it out of the stand. Slow and steady. Not trying to be a hero, or pretend I'm hercules... ...just trying to get this thing done.

Well I'm happy to report the hole of my bum is fully intact thank you very much. hahahaha.

Alright, well a little progress report:

There's just about NO CHANCE this thing will be ready in time. There's just WAY too much left that needs to be done in order to just get this damn thing running, let alone being road worthy and picture worthy.

What a fugghin mess I've gotten myself into. Buh. I love my kids to death but I dare anyone to try to get work done while a 3 and 5 year old are let loose while you have your car in 9 million pieces and damn near the same amount of tools as well.

    Ok, so the progress....

    Quite simply.. ....NOT ENOUGH.

Maybe I'll snap a few pics of the progress tomorrow morning so I can get flamed by everyone for not being ready for the meet next weekend.

All I know is I pulled a page out of a 'driving an old Chevy', because I had to mount the fuel pump and filter damn near on the back bumper as it was the only place the frikken thing would fit.

Yeah if they were trying to kill each other they at least wouldn't be asking 'what (else) can I do to help' or 'what's this do' or 'daddy, look at this' or 'can you help me with this' or ..... you get the idea.

Yeah, been doing the wait 'til they're asleep thing too (in fact, as soon as I hit submit on this message, I'm going back out there after having just put them both to bed and grabbed a quick snack), but it's starting to wear on me. Been doing this for like the past 4 out of 6 nights, and stayed out there 'til 2 at the earliest, 3:30 at the latest. Sucks when you have to be up for work at 5:45 every morning though.

Oh well, I'm off to work. Catch up tomorrow morning.
