try lubricating the mast to see if that helps.
if not than you will need to replace the mast assembly
Lubricated the lower half (outer layer of metal) of the mast and it goes all the way up and down by itself! yeee
^ These are both of the things I did.
...that's what she said
Don't use too much of anything that can attract dust and dirt. I had the best results just keeping it really clean with the occasional use of a detailing spray, which has a very light wax in it. Ultimately, the plastic drive cable broke during one of our less than common cold snaps a couple of years ago. I was so tired of keeping the thing working for 20+ years that I "treated" myself and replaced it with a manual antenna. While mine always worked, it would often stick and had to be aided to reach full extension. These types of antennas are, thankfully, not in use anymore.
I'm going to try this cause I have this problem too.
mine doesnt move at all![]()
89 lxi. It's powered, just doesn't move. plus its bent to hell and i''m too cheap to buy something i hardly ever use.
ya when i get mine up and running again ill be deleting the antenna all together never use fm anymore
Now that I have an OEM type manual antenna I just leave it up all the time. I did look at various types of thin wire antennas that stuck to the inside of the windshield or other types that mounted under the dash. Ultimately, it was easier to go with an OEM type.
