Exclamation H23 Conecting Rods in B20A

I know there has been some people saying that the H23 rods are not only stronger but, are the same size as the B20A5 so I wanted to clear the air.

Well I just got off the phone with my Tech Rep at JE Pistons and he informed me of the following.

    B20A5 rods are 142.75mm(5.62")
    H23A Rods are 141.5mm(5.57")

So yes the H23 rods are stronger, but shorter. So if you use them with stock pistons your going to loose some compression(less Power) unless you shave the block 1.25mm(.049")

Or like many have said, use H23 rods with the B16 pistons(just bore the pistons to accept the 22mm wrist pin.

    Part2:
    B20A pistons and rods V.S. B20A5

    B20A Ratio is 9.5:1
    B20A5 Ratio is 9.0:1

If i use B20A5 pistons and rods in my B20A is that going to take my Ratio down or is the difference between the two ratios just in the head volume and piston to deck height clearance between the two engines?

    Correction:
    B20A ratio is 9.4:1
    B20A2 (EDM non-emission) is 9.5:1

not a huge difference, but still ;)

just going on power (Hp) here B20A.org says the gold top(160hp) is 9.4:1 and the black top(147hp) is 9.5:1

now if the gold top has more HP does it not make sence that the gold top would have the higher compression?

No one knows any data for the blacktops someone must have told me it was 9.5:1 for me to put it up.

The hp is questionable between gold and black tops and i think someone brought up cam profiles.

As for the H23 rods they work fine i used pauter rods on my turbo B20A which are huge and required notching of the lower cylinder walls. If you doing a NA setup i would not be as concerned unless your going for high compression.

yes i want to do an all motor build. I think my best bet going to be b20a5 Rods and b16a pistons and just have the pistons enlarged to fit the 22mm wrist pin.
