My rims are 17x7.5 with 205/40s and they are very very close but dont rub and i didnt touch the lip at all. I would like wider tires but i think they will definately rub...

i run 205/40 and my car is lowered about 2.5" and my tires never rub. as for the offset i've noticed my mph reading is about 3mph off when i pass through those police raders. Other then that i still get great gas mileage. the only thing i didnt like at first is you can feel every single bump in the road, but you'll get use to that

I dropped my car close to 2.75" and it rubbed in the back when my dad and my sister sat in the back seats. But I rolled the fender lips and now I'm rub free and choppin bladezzz

I have 205/40/16, and I know you'd be ok with one inch bigger. That's the perfect tire and rims size!!

not necessarily, it will be harsher but not excessive or as much as if you lower it.

The ride should be more stiff and handling will be improved. You do notice the bumps much more. this is based off of my friend's 2k civic. He put 17s onto his mom's car (yeh he does have his own car but felt like hookin up the honda). His parents complained a lot and although it was a bit rougher, i think it was generally worth it. seriously, do u really care about the ride as much as u care about performance? we don't got benzs....

205/45-16's with the at least 40mm offset have never been know to rub under any circumstance. Same with 42mm, 43m and 45mm
offset's. It also need's to be said that 205/45-16 is the correct plus size and that 205/40 isn't. Close, but it's slightly undersized.

I've seen about 2 circumstances where a member said 205/40-17's had some rubbing with 40mm offset. So 42mm offset or higher would be a safe bet to never worry about rubbing.
