Hello 3GEEZ...!!!

I plan on UPGRADING MY EXHAUST SYSTEM in the next couple of weeks, and I want to use the Ceramic Coated PACESETTER Headers. Unfortunately, some people dread Pacesetter because of their supposedly "crappy" header designs:

Does anybody have Pacesetter Headers installed on their Accord? If so, how do they feel to you?

One of my friends recommended DC Sports, so I manage to find a few sites that sell DC Headers for our Accords:

i have a pacesetter that i coated for sale its in the for sale section along with a catco high flow cat that im selling for 200 for both + shipping

The Pacesetter will be WAY better than the stock exhaust system. Just cut off that stupid ball joint and have a flex pipe welded in.

Yeah, Pacesetters are OK. They're not as good as some. But it's really your best choice unless you want a custom header built...

DC headers are out there for sure, but there are people like me whoring them and won't get rid of them for a reasonable price.

I've tried all those sites that list them. They don't stock that shit, it gets shipped directly from the manufacturer. Paceshitter is fine if you clean them up and weld in a flex pipe. I suggest getting the basic one, doing the work, and then getting it coated. Mine also needed to bent in towards the block to fit properly...

Believe us when we tell you that you will in the odds stacked against you not find a DC header. Most everyone on this site has combed the sellers. So we are just trying to help. But be our guess and try if you must. You might get lucky.

Or you can find one that someone has one or two, but you will be paying premium price..

I had a pacesetter and it was a great improvement over stock. But you will have to weld in a flex pipe. A good shop will do it. And it will be worth every penny.

Not completely sure that was the problem. Friend owned the car when the thing exploded. The pipes definitely rusted out though. Head ended up being cracked, which might have contributed.

mine was great, even ran it with the ball joint didnt really bother me much, but as they say check the workmanship... i had to have a spot re welded twice were there welds were utter crap, so like someone mentioned get the cheep-o non coated,, clean it up go back over the welds (add a flex if needed/want) and send it out to be cermiced (or do your own heat painted style) and there ya go

yup the pacesetter is lighter than the stock set up...so change it out. i had to weld my stock flex pipe to my downpipe...and get part of my crossmember notched off here is a pic...it still flows better than the stock cast manifold

These were recently discovered over on Preludepower.com. An Australian member put a set on an '83 Prelude and it appears to be quite good. It's a genuinely new 4-2-1 design and not a rebranded Pacesetter. They are only listed for 2nd gen Preludes but the exhaust port pattern and pipe layout are identical to the Accords. One thing to note though is that these don't have the extra bungs for the air suction or EGR tubes. So if you need to pass an inspection you would need to have the appropriate bungs added on. Or go outlaw!

Assuming S&S still actually makes them (and I think they do), they are decent. It's a different design than the Pacesetter. The S&S has 4 long primary tubes that join into a single collector, where the Pacesetter has 4 short tubes that join into 2 short tubes that then join into a single collector. The 4-1 design will tend to favor the higher end of the RPM band. Below is my S&S. It's been modified with a standard collector flange on the collector though instead of a ball joint and extension tube. Mine has also been ceramic coated.

Besides, I want a set of headers with the 4-2-1 design. Because like you said: the 4-1 design is only benefitial in the High RPM range, so therefore I want performance in ALL RANGES (HIGH, MED, and LOW).....

I recently bought the whole kit, headers, cat, catback exhaust, it was a pain in the ass to start with, the ball joint is lame, and it didnt fit properly, i had to take it to a shop, and at the end i decided to keep my old catback (aftermarket) the one from pacesetter sucks!, but at the end it was worth it, im getting more torque and more power, both at low and high rpm, the sound is a little ricey but hey! More power and more mpg.....

Guy's just get it custum made frome a bike shop or some header place they will doit for you that's what I did but than aguain I had it made in tj so I dont pass smog with them.
