    Idle control problem

My RPM dips and the car shudders when a load event (e.g. A/C, power steering) occurs at idle. What to do?

The usual suggestion is to clean the IACV, but I don't think my 86 BS engine even has one (or does it?).

    Thanks.

    Re: Idle control problem

Not sure on the 86 FI cars but I would make sure your idle is set per the sticker on the hood first off. If you do have a ICAV valve it may just have an air bubble in it. Im pretty sure on my 88 lxi they list an idle boost in the ECU for when the AC or power steering is used but Im not sure how it is triggered,TPS maybe?
