My 1988 Accord 2dr Hatchback "Misty"

I tried this before and it bombed out.
    Hopefully it posts this time!

This is "Misty", my 1988 Honda Accord LXi, 2dr hatchback.
5-spd car that I bought from a very good friend who was her original owner.
He bought her in Feb. 1988 at Valencia Honda. After 20 years in Sylmar, she is HOME now!

This car is LoJacked, so don't get any funny ideas!

I uploaded to whatever was at the bottom of my post screen. I thought that was going to insert my car's picture, but I guess not. (what is "imageshack"???)

HOW do you insert a pic into the text area of the post? Once I learn how to do this, I promise, I will never ask you again.

If you're like me and you don't want to have to create an account, and don't upload 1,000's of pictures, use TinyPic.

OK, I see my pictures in this reply screen, but I still can't cut and paste them into my replies. Why is this so hard for me? I'm NOT that technically challenged, but this makes me look like a real idiot. And I'm NOT BLONDE, so there is no logical excuse!

OK, I see the pictures are all appearing below. CivicAccordHonda - You are a technilogical genius.

BTW - the old, worn out hubcaps are now gone and the new 5-spoke wheels are on. That's a picture of the guy at America's Tire, Saugus (thanx guys, sorry for the shameless plug)...those guys are great!

These pictures were taken after my Maaco paint job (North Hills, CA), again, a shameless plug, but for an inexpensive paint job, it looks pretty darned good!

Re: My 1988 Accord 2dr Hatchback "Misty"

I was wondering if anyone has had problems with their seat belt retractors. I have to manually push mine into the door panel hole every time I get out of the car...(I'm used to it), and sometimes it locks up and I can't get it out of the door to wear it, so I drive without a seatbelt and it feels wierd, and I hope I don't get a ticket, or worse yet, in an accident. The dealer told me they had a lifetime warranty on those, but when I took it in to get the work done, they told me they didn't make the part. I really don't want to get this from a junk yard, but with so many Accords on the road, I can't believe this part isn't made anymore. Actually, I had called the parts dept at Honda and I understand this retractor is actually $428!!! I believe this is why their service dept. lied to me!

Also, I need taillights and would love to replace with the Euro style ones, but all of the aftermarket ones I find cut off at year 1990. Mine is a 1988. Anyone have the 411 on a supplier of aftermarket or OEM taillights for this year???

I was in Chicago, Illinois for 4 days and didn't see one single car like mine! I was visiting my Brother out there and he said these cars are very rare out there because the snow and inclement weather rusts them out.

Mine happens to be all California. It was originally bought in Valencia, CA, and my buddy who was the original owner lived in Sylmar, CA and sat out for 20 years. Now that the car is back in the Santa Clarita Valley, it is garaged since it's new paint job. And it is LoJack equipped, because I have way too much $$ in this car and I know it is on one of the most stolen lists. That is sad. I love my car and she is like family (like my other 3 cars!) If I could get it upstairs to my condo, she could sleep in my bedroom (although that would make it kind of tight for space!)

I was about to ask what color that is, I've never seen a coupe that color. I don't imagine it's stock Honda paint?

should try calling up another dealer about the seat belts a few members on here ive got theres replaced but theres another few on here that got told the same thing

and as for tailights best bet would be a pick n pull and then clearing them out your self, you just heat them up with hot water to melt the glue lift the lens off them remove the colored plastic peaces inside then you can hit the inside up with a new coat of metalic silver paint and glue it back together it comes out looking pretty good too

    bullard123 has his half cleared

The paint code is "Misty Beige". My buddy that sold me the car swears it's "Champagne". But when painted it came out like Silver. It is cool, it matches the painted wheels that I bought.

I think the original color had a hint of pink in it, but you probably wouldn't be able to see it in the pictures anyway. It still looks better than the 20 years of sun-fade from my friend keeping outside every single day! The clear coat was a mess, but now it has a 1-stage paint job.

Why is your LX-i badge on the left side? I swear, that's not Misty Beige. That's too silver to be Misty Beige. Joay and I have Misty Beige coupes.

Anyway, very clean hatch. I'm not a big fan of them, but I'd take yours in a hot flash.
