11 inch front rotor + legend calipers

hey guys i own a gold 88 a20a4 accord SI in australia. my question is relating to the 11 inch front rotor and caliper conversion in the how to section. i have redrilled the rotors to 4 by 100 but apon installing the legend calipers it appears that the bracket is approx 1 inch short of reaching the holes to locate them on the hub.i pulled them from a 87/88 legend coupe and the 89 4door looked like it had the same brakes...do the accord wagon fronts have a longer bracket? i can make a steel bracket to locate them if needed but if the accord ones are longer ill just swap them over at the junk yard..any ideas? just a pain because the jy is 2 hours away...also how many pistons are the type r / accord wagon fronts? double sided?

no i havent but if i remediable form what i read a long time ago you have to have a special bracket

tryed installing the whole legend front hub, wonder if that would work. using the whole thing lol

nah too much work and i would have to mod plate it...no point machining a plate for a shit ass single piston caliper..pretty sure they will fit on the stock disks though...can any one confirm that these brakes will fit without a bracket? in the how tos legend_master says they will but has anyone else done it?

also accordb20a is that a teggy front bumper? yeas theres an original white DOHC accord in the JY..with massive ugly dohc speed stripe stickerson the sides lol....missing a gear box though..any one know how much lighter the alloy block is?

heres some flickies of my $20 94 prelude calipers i got today....it was a different yard so i couldnt have a good look...guy rekoned he had an accord wagon. but he obviously hasnt been out there..the old tape measure told me the diskes were 11s so i grabbed them. the bracket is miles off but definately bigger than the legend...also a longer bracket...and no metal shoe in the centre of the caliper

so do you have the same calipers as these?

im gathering from ur thread u used the integrar rotors, calipers and bracket with a small 4mm spacer and it fit to the stock hub...

any flickies of the insides of yours with the bracket and everything?i know its a pain bud

sweet as just needed some re assurance....out of interest i ground a bit off the legend caliper bracket where it sits against the hub in the v groove part. managed to fit it on the stock hub with the stock rotor and bolt it up...rotor needs to be spaced though...the piston is approx 4mm bigger than stock an the pads are near 1cm bigger...so those interested in upgrading their backs and have a grinder or file can grab the fronts as well from the legend....approx 2 mm needs to be taken from the groove..

couldnt be fucked with that since i have a new mc and 11inch redrilled legend rotors to go on so i will order the brackets tomorrow and hope for the best..

Thats my "fancy" brackets. There no differance from those and making small spacers that I have felt.

You can experiment around with brackets. Most of then have that same hole spacing of 5 1/4 or 5 3/4 what ever it is,it early for me. You might find one that just needs some grinding to work. We dont have any access to the duel piston calipers that I have found here besides the Acura NSX.

Yeah your brake pads are pretty big. It will always have that D503 number somewhere on it or the box thats what you are looking for.

true true...so i went to the wreckers yet again after discovering that the ones i got mega cheap were the gsr calipers and got the right ones..this was the wreckers that was closed on the weekend...any way found the 17cl15vn calipers with the 23t bracket....so went to mount them up and suprise suprise they are off about 5mm with the legend 11inch rotors...started to file a little bit out of the bracket where the disk hits but ran out of daylight and just wacked them on the standard disks, bled them up etc.

did you have to grind anything out besides the little bit that sits against the hub? did you have to even do that? im not sure whether i should be taking metal out of there really but i will if i have to...did your 11s just mount up? i wonder if i have the same hubs...so close yet so far...heres a flikie of them anyways...

so in answering my own question i think i need the 25t bracket and i they have them on the vtec prelude...another trip to the jy soon to get some interior parts and flog the right brackets....the 23ts fit pretty good on the 10.3s though...aaaaaaaarrrrggghhhhhhh...such a pain...

so the working setup will be

85-87 legend 11s redrilled to 4 x 100
17cl15vn calipers with 3.5 mm milled off where the bracket bolts to the hub to eliminate the need for spacing the rotor.
and the elusive 25t bracket aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhh

No I did not have to grind anything else. I think I had to trim the dust shield a little or just pull it away to get the caliper bracket on. Now on my set up the rotor thickness is 21 mm where the legend is 19mm I think. That was the differance between Legends set up and mine that I remember.

I think you are correct the GSR caliper is our caliper. Ill see if I can come up with a list of cars that have that caliper bracket but I assume if they use the the TypeR/Prelude caliper they use the bracket.

yeah was thinking of grabbing the visors to see how they look...yeah this jnk yard is read stingy with lights...they know how much honda wants for them new...if some ones desperate ill get them and chuk them on ebay or something for cost..its got a perfect interior in the same colour so im gonna see what i can scavenge...exactly the same inside as the norm except for a 4walb sticker near the auto shifter....

yeah sweet...i still had to file the top of the bracket where it sits against the hub to get any to fit...its because of the difference in caliper height..

the gsr calipers look slightly smaller and are marked 17cl14vn they seem to have a slightly smaller pad...the v6/type r 17cl15vn seem to have a slightly bigger casting too...theyr the ones i now have

i havnt tried the gsr calipers on the 23t bracket but im pretty sure it will fit....not that youd bother but if you came accross them then yeah (on stock disks) im thinking when i get the other bracket ill put the 23t on the gsrs and sell them to some civic gay boy..

my calipers came off a 98 accord.(yes i was drooling over the j30a under the hood and imagining how fast my car would be...very fucking fast!!!!!!!!!!).if not theres definately a newer legend there and if they have the t28 bracket (theyre supposed to) then ill just get 12inch rotors and use the 11s on the back with the legend rears which could work nicely...and stuff the v6 calipers with the biggest pads i can grind down to fit...

i will be going to the jy late this week to pull a few calipers and flogg some brackets and buy the window visors from that dohc accord..they have some 94-97 4bangers there so ill have a look...otherwise ill just have to go the 12inch legend bracket..yeah that first list seems suspect but only one way to find out...

the 98 on series v6 has has the correct bracket to fit our stock hub with the 10.3s and are the typer r brakes..this could all be solvedif i could buy the fucking bracket seperately...over here you can only buy the caliper and bracket together and only from honda and they are $737 wait for it ........EACH!!!!!!!!!!! fuck i laughed when they told me....i could get 4 pot 12inches for less than that lol..

any way on a side note...do those chrome strips on the doch bumpers come off easily or are they glued like fuck to the bumpers....need more chrome...and yes i shall have a measure of the side chrome trim bits to the legend...they look exactly the same to me....bumpers look like they fit to..

yeah i think that b20a is toast there anyway...to fucking rare for me anyway...might be able to get parts now but in 3-5 years who knows? any way gonna do the obd1 conversion over the summer(winter for you) after i get the brakes sorted and move to brisbane.. thinking im gonna use all the 4g stuff with the external igniter etc that way itl be easier to wire the h22 that i WILL be making fit..goto get an aluminium radiator too...do the integra ones fit? want a nice racing one to keep this bad boy cool...
