automan9482's stock '89 Accord DX sedan

Here are a few shots of my '89 Accord DX. It has the A20A1 engine with automatic, and currently has just under 155K on it. I bought it 2 years ago for $400 from a local impound auction and saved it from a certain death. Many area junkyards hit this auction for their stock. It was a theft recovery, but had negligible damage, save for a scrape on the left fender, and some hail damage. It was completely original, and the body was SOLID for an 18 y/o Midwest native Honda, except for two holes in each rocker panel where Ziebart had drilled thru from the outside when it was new; the "rustproofing" plugs were still there.
It has none of the typical Honda rot in the wheel wells, trunk, undercarriage, or strut towers, no accident damage anywhere, and only had 140K on it. I even got some nice extras with it, including an in-the-package front tag frame, OEM side marker lamp, owner's manual, visor sleeve for starting instructions, and the cruise control switch info. tag.
I have put a lot of TLC into it, including:
    Windshield
    New timing belt/water pump/oil seals
    Major tune-up
    Master cylinder
Radiator, hoses, heater core and hoses
    All fluids replaced
New brakes all the way around
Front upper/lower ball joints & new coilovers
    Alignment
4 new Kumhos on American racing rims....I hate them, makes the car ride/handle like s*it....going to paint and retread the original 13's and add '90 Civic center caps/beauty rings in lieu of the chewed up hubcaps
    Cat-back exhaust
CVjoints x3 - NAPA was the only place locally that could even get them, and they were not great rebuilt units. Honda dealer looked at me like I was stupid, and said they couldn't get them anymore.
'97 Prelude CD player - stock & still sounds good.
Correct color center console with cupholder and storage armrest out of a mid/late-80's Integra
.....etc. And of course, the body and paint. Fixed all the dings and hail dents and Ziebart rust, and resprayed it the correct B23M blue with the use of a friend's setup... It was my 1st attempt at painting a car, and I'm not pleased with the finish, but thought it looked better than the bumps and bruises and peeling clear coat. I also swapped out the failing curved rub strips for the unmolested smooth ones from an '87, and changed all the black trim/surrounds to chrome. I plan on having it professionally redone in the future. In light of all this, I dubbed it with the LX badge, as I thought it deserved it.
It is one great, reliable little car, and I love and keep it in memory of my 1st Honda, a silver '86 Accord DX hatchback. The '86 was a replacement car for me during college after totaling my '94 Beretta GT, and finally died with 220K, major rot, and a bad tranny (AT), but it was one hell of a car.

The 1st link will take you directly to the Photobucket page with more pix, including my '82 California Prelude. I am trying to get it running after a Chevy-geared mechanic screwed up the rebuild of the CVCC engine, and I am currently lost and frustrated. Better pix of it when I can move it out of the garage.

Sorry for the photo-whoring....this is a great forum, and I hope I can get a lot of help with my old Hondas in the near future.
    Thanks for looking!

If it's a DX...why does it have an LX badge?

Thanks for the feedback. It's nice to know there are others out there who know the merit of these little rice burners!

No offense, but none of the things you listed really point towards it being anything higher than a DX. I mean, I had an LX-i, and it went through all of the maintenance that your car went through, but does that make it an SE-i? I think for your DX to be an LX, it should have body-colored bumpers, A/C, power windows and locks, possibly a sunroof, the upgraded stereo/deck area, and whatever differences there were between the DX and LX. Maintaining a BMW 325i and putting in a 5-series stereo doesn't make it an M3, you know what I mean?

Edit: Sorry, I didn't read your entire first post. It was too long, so I skimmed over it.

I understand the difference between the trim levels. It was more of a pride in labor thing. If I truly thought it was an LX I wouldn't have titled the thread as a DX. Sorry for the bold on the reply, it should have been underlined.

Well, take pride in your labor, it's a good thing. And, you did an excellent job. It just bugs me when people label cars something that they're not (I used the most common one; base 3-series as an M3). And, thanks for making it bold. I wouldn't have seen it if it was underlined...
