    Went junkyarding today

Came across an '89 SE-I with the rear discs still intact. What all would I need to get from this car to swap them onto my '88 LXi hatchback? Is it worthwhile, is the difference in stopping power noticeable?

Also found these wheels on an '84 Accord:

Unfortunately, they were 13 inch though. If they were 14's, I would have grabbed those suckers. I could get the whole set for like 100 bucks. They were in nice shape, just needed some polishing up. 1 center cap was missing.

I think Tomisimo is right. There's another thread where someone got the whole setup and is going to just bolt it up, rather than swap out each part.

dont forget to take brakerbar with you. if you will take whole assembly. those 8 structural bolts are long and usually well in place.

    Re: Went junkyarding today

I'm just going to pass on it if the only real difference is appearance. Won't see them with my wheels anyway. I priced rebuilt calipers for it at $110 EACH, and I have no idea if the ones on it are any good or not, so who knows. If anyone near wants to go get the stuff, it's at the Pull-A-Part in Norcorss, GA.

I searched all three Pull-A-Parts around Atlanta today for the front end parts I need. Tons of black, red, white, green and gold colored Accords, but the blue ones seem to be harder to find. Lucked out and found an '89 LXi sedan at the Lithonia Pull-A-Part that was hit real hard in the side, but seems to be the same color as mine. It had a nice real Honda fender to replace that cheap aftermarket POS fender that's on there, pretty nice hood, and the sedan front bumper cover I want for mine.

Don't know if color will be a dead on match for my car or not, but should be pretty close. Whole car will end up getting repainted at some point the next year anyways.

    '88: Montreal Blue Metallic Clearcoat
    '89: Laurel Blue Metallic Clearcoat

They're not as close as Misty Beige and Seattle Silver, which I swear are the same color.

Meh, close enough. The other option was a red bumper cover, gold hood and green fender.

hahaha, my thoughts exactly. I've been saying someone should make one for years now. Yet no one wants to deal with the shame of being seen in one I guess.

Yes, rear disc will outperform the drum in most driving. They're MUCH easier to work on too. Honestly it's the ease of repair/replacement that sells me on them. They do look cool too.

That wheel is a factory option on the '84 Accords, and later (I think 88) Civic's. I have two still brand new in their original Honda box that I wish I could use, but 13"s will not fit over the 88-89 LX-i (and SE-i) front brakes. Dammit.

When you say RED, do you mean red or maroon/burgundy? The true red one's (Phoenix Red) were only in DX trim, and only available in 88 and 89. In '88 Phoenix Red was ONLY available on a DX Hatch and had an 'Off-Black' Interior. In '89 Phoenix Red was ONLY available on a DX Coupe, and same deal, only with 'Off-Black' interior. If you truly saw a Phoenix Red hatch or coupe in there, please ask what they'd get for the front door panels, seats, dash, carpet and center console.

WHAT!? Since when did this combo exist? I want a damn black interior! I know the '89 SE-i coupe (and sedan?) had the option for an all-black interior, but with leather. There's an '88 Phoenix DX hatch on CL where I live; it's been there forever. I was checking the colors on 3geez Wiki and I noticed the black interior for the '88 hatch. That website seriously needs to be updated. I'm getting a Phoenix Red DX coupe and gutting that shit.

Yessir. The SE-i coupe with misty had black interior. ...but yes, I already had the '89 Phoenix Coupe and the interior is in Steve's car (88lxi68). The coupe and hatch (88-89) interior door panels and I think the back seat panels too but I'm not sure, are a direct swap to eachother (def not the trunk/hatch area though). Yeah I've seen that damn red hatch up in your area for a while now, and would love to get my hands on it.

PS> The DX off-black (it really is black though) front seats have a higher bolster on the seat pan and back too, so you'll feel more 'hugged' in that seat over the LX-i's.

    u never saw cah's car did u?

and yes if you're planning on taking disc brakes, it's easiest if you take the whole knee assembly.. u can unbolt at the frame kinda near the front doors and at the back unbolt at the upper control arm.. much easier than trying to separate the ball joint

if you do it right you dont have to take the shocks

phoenix red was a color for the dx coupes, they came with black interior, too bad it was dx interior and not lx-i... there was one in arizona at the chandler pick-n-pull but we decided it wasn't worth it because the seats are just not as nice as the lx-i or se-i...

Mark just said that the black seats were nicer (more comfortable) than all of the other colors for the DX.

    Re: Went junkyarding today

one of my old coupes. This is the Phoenix red one that Steve sourced his interior from. Don't get all up in arms over the photos as they were taken while Steve did a charity run (Kinda like a gumball run) from NYC to NewOrleans a few years back, and you couldn't spend more than $300 on a car. This one was free seeing that I gave it to him.
