Why is your photo bucket pink lol
I fixed it, they keep adding themes and stuff, I don't use this particular album much, they must have changed the default
here's the broken piece, you can see the old glue, this might have been working for years on this repair but finally gave up, stupid pot metal.![]()

I could order some super alloy one pot metal repair welding rod from muggy weld, but i can't afford it right now, it welds pot metal at 350 degrees. plus the motor would have to be dismantled. Jb weld is just not going to hold a loaded piece like that, it needs to be welded. actually brazed .
idk if the glue held i dont see why the jb weld wouldn't i would at least try
Ok someone on another site i belong to is sending me a couple of those special pot metal welding rods, now i need to take the motor apart, and get that piece out. the reason the jb won't work anymore, is the parts have been moving against each other and have worn themselves down. this special welding rod will fill in the gaps. I'm not giving up yet. these are too rare to give up on.
that fails!
Holy mackerel! That's the most gigantic-est pic I've ever seen. Anyway, I'm sure I'm reading this wrong. It sounds like a machinist is saying that he can't fab up a piece to replace a simple broken part, but that must be me reading wrong.
C'mon Lost! You've rebuilt everything in your car, don't let a simple broken part stop you! I know you can rebuild these mirrors out of adamantium with laser siting and night vision capabilities. Go go go!!!

this piece goes all the way through the motor gear box, I believe it even has gears cast onto one end, no way to machine it without a cnc and tons of work and encoding. I've got to take the motor and gear box all apart to get the metal piece out, then it can be welded back together hopefully. and the info on the bases was correct, the bases don't fit the hatch, it was very easy to swap mirror bases.
