Seems like I only Buy 3g's

Picked up an SEI tonight for 500 bucks. with only 110k. It needs lovin on the paint and interior and a driverside window their kid shot it out with a pellet but will be a nice restoration build. Its grey on grey and an auto

It was at night so I dont have any good pictures but will have some tomorrow. looks like im going to the junk yard asap to get a window and look for carotman hatch parts.

now that i thinkabout it this will be my 7th 3g.
86 lxi grey hatch - toatled
87 dx coupe - parts car
88 lxi blue hatch - track car, still have
87 lxi white hatch - sold
    89 lxi maroon - partscar
87 lxi hatch gold - daily driver

I recently aquired a h23a1 i wonder if i should put it in the sei?

thanks guys this site is great, Ive been keeping up since 2002 when i got my first 3g. Alot of people have added alot of information research time and development, and through your hard work the 3g lives on. and all of mine live on because of it.

so what would you do if you had an SEI to play with?

Its about time i posted pictures.

since the pictures I have changed the brakes over to my 87 hatch and vise versa. The last person that owned it cross threaded 3 spark plugs..... re tapped those, got it running drove it around town. came home and pulled the interior out to pressure wash the carpet. still need to chase down soem electrical grimlins and replace the radiator.

I already fixed the headlight...LOL. And you are a brave soldier to let your wife drive your 3g. I specifically have not tought my wife to drive a 5 speed so there is no chance in hell that she can drive my car. after smashed my mint 93 ex civic 3 times in a year i learend that if i want to keep something for her not to touch it.

Re: Seems like I only Buy 3g's

    UPDATE!!!!

I opened the Pandoras BOX! the wiring loom!!

well this weekend i managed to pull A+ cloth grey seats from a 89 dx to replace the leather seats that well were shall we say dead. The interior looks A+ now

I also replaced the radiator waterpump and timeing belt. There seemed to be a few electrical issues that needed to be dealt with. IE electric mirros would automatically adjust up on their own when selected to L or R on the switch. The tach doesnt work. I have no Interior lights. NONE! Headlights motors are un resposive, lights come on but no flip.

So I proceded to chase the issues down. Well after replaceing 6 fuses I managed to fix everything except the dash lights, and side mirrors and tach.

So i decided to fix the lights first. my first thought is the light control was disconnected/faulty. Tested with known good and that didnt fix it. Maybe the dimmer switch? NOPE. Is it getting power to the control module? NO.. OK so i looked at fuse NO14 in the pannel and guess what its blown again! so I tested for a short to ground.. Problem found. so i started to dig the fuse box out to find the red/black melted all over 30+ wires in the loom. I traced it all the way to the radio. Guess what? the idiot before me installed a radio with twist ties, a turkey baster, hopes and dreams. UGH! now to section the harness and replace all the melted ones. the Pandoras box. I fixed a 240 like this last year, Idiots brother Fuktard did the same thing to it. the melted wire explains all the other random problems with the tach, mirrors, etc.

So i feel like burning it to the ground, its such a pain to fix this type of issue. BUt i will fix and celebrate my victory!

Re: Seems like I only Buy 3g's

This is the final update on my SE-I. I sold the car to fund my race car. I will run down a list of what i did to it before she left.

    Cleaned interior
    replaced the seats
replaced 30 wires in the wire harness (idiots burned it up installing a radio)
reaplced all the brake lines, pads and rotors
replaced inner and outer tie rods
    replaced timing belt
    replaced water pump,
    drained fuel tank
    replaced fuel filter.
replaced trans oil with honda atf.

when i decided to sell the car i swapped out the rear brakes with my 87 hatch.

I made a 1,200$ profit so it was time well spent. I just hope that the new owner takes care of her.

This is what she looked like a week before she sold.

In the end i only had 700$ tied into the car. the most expensive part was the new seats out of a local pull a part. and to make it shine up as i did it took about 2 days elbow grease. i pressure washed / scrubed the carpet with laundry detergant. and cleaned the interior with windex lots of windex. and went over the interior with an arnoral interior protector /shine.

The easiest way to clean a car is to disasemble the entire interior /clean and reassemble.

To polish the paint i used a brillo pad (scotch brite pad woks as well) and lots of dawn soap. (that removed all the dirt and grime and 90$ of the oxidation). I followed that with a 3m rubbing compund and a 10'' buffer to polish the scratches left by the brillo pad. The car shined like new money.
