    Exclamation Really Big Problem.

I have low rpm on startup, i wait about 15-25 mins before it goes to a good enough temp. Today, I replaced the Main Rear Seal oil leak.

Now i have a bigger problem. 15 Minutes ago I opened up my carburetor noticed that there was way to much oil inside.. I cleaned it up and started the car. i asked a friend of mine if that was normal he said thats not good. He then took the hose from the motor to the carburetor and pluged it with a bolt.

he then told me to start it and when i did my valve seal popped out and oil spilled from the headgasket.. We opened and resealed the seal but now when i start it, it starts smoking from the engine bay.

IDK. What to spend my money on. Can someone please help me because my mechanic is telling me to get the motor rebuilt for 1400... fawk.

I guess no one else is going to take a stab at this one, so here's my best guess:

This could be a lot of things, so we'll start with the cheapest and easiest. What kind of gas are you using? How long has it been since your last tune up. Your carb is probably due for reincarnation as a pencil holder or soda can or whatever, but we'll start with the cheap stuff first.

Tell me more about the rear main seal repair. Did you do this? You would have to drop the transmission to do it. The rear mains aren't known for failing on these cars, but the distributor seal just above the main seal is. The distributor seal costs $3 and takes 15 minutes to change. The rear main costs a good deal more. If you still have a leak, you'll know you got the wrong one.

Sounds like your PCV system is gobbed up. You might need to replace the valve, crumbling hoses, etc.

He then took the hose from the motor to the carburetor and pluged it with a bolt.

he then told me to start it and when i did my valve seal popped out and oil spilled from the headgasket.. We opened and resealed the seal but now when i start it, it starts smoking from the engine bay.
This isn't making a lot of sense to me. The valve seals are under the valve cover. How did you see one pop out? Oil spilling from the head gasket would be a pretty major problem. Are you sure you mean head gasket?

What I think you're saying is that the valve cover gasket blew and leaked oil. I would think PCV again.

Where is the oil smoking from?

Let's table the engine build until we really know what's wrong. It's probably worth doing a compression test. If your compression is low, then we can start talking about engine builds. If you just have a lot of oil leaks, those fix easily and cheaply.

did you mean your valve cover seal failed? if there's lots of oil going into the carb, you could have a failed pcv valve causing lots of crankcase pressure to build up. this would also account for the seal popping out if it was under pressure, and possibly the sluggish performance. if the valve is clogged pressure will build up in the crankcase and oil will be forced out the breather tube into the air cleaner. the smoking on the engine sounds like leaking oil burning off the exhaust,

    Re: Really Big Problem.

I assume when you said Head Gasket you meant Valve Cover Gasket, and When you said the Valve Seal popped out, you meant the Camshaft Seal?

I think those were causing some confusion for anyone trying to help you.

I agree with PCV being the problem unless in you working on the engine you removed the timing belt and altered the timing of the engine by mistake.
