just came back from the hospital, guys wear your respirator!! I was molding stuff for the dash, I've been doing glass work for over 20 years, and was never hit like this, I guess they changed something in the resin, probably due to the EPA, I was dizzy and falling down, and the whole deal. Got oxygen, poked and tested and sent home, could have been much worse. The point is you never know how chemicals will affect you, being a tough guy and not wearing a mask won't make any difference, it can affect you just as bad,

I had to go to ER myself week before. Just couldnt stop coughing and down to my knees and then when it stopped I could not take in air for 30 seconds to a minute. It got to happening five times on the hour and I said hell with this. Just a common cold turned into severe bronchial spasms, once that happens the lungs get over sensative and it takes prednisone to get it to stop. I hate taking that shit.
Yes by all means use your respiratory safety guidelines with all products recommending such, it may not affect you now but for later in life it could compromise the strength of your choker.

similar just happened to me the other night too. ...making something out of pvc the other night in my basement and was breathing in a ton of those pvc primer/cleaner/glue fumes and started feeling really crappy. I went upstairs for some fresh air, a beverage and a quick snack and even the food/drink tasted like shit because of all the fumage ...not going to do that again.

ive used 3m ones all the time , they get a lot of the bigger particles but still you will get the smell of solvents from glue/paint ect. The BEST type of respirator is the clean air type that connects to an air line or a small filter with a blower motor.

the 3m type i use:

the clean air type im talking about , its like a bee keeps mask bulky awkward and pain to use, but hell you wont have to worry about breathing any bad stuff in

I know about the clean air type, but unless you are doing this every single day, it's hard to come up with the money for something like that. this is what I have, I paid about 50 bucks for mine, I have a matching one for my wife too, took weeks to have it ordered in small.

I use an MSA dual cartridge respirator with AM/FM activated cartridges. They are good for ammonia, fluorine, phosgene, vapours and particulate. They also absorb solvent gases and other "bad stuff" when within their specified lifespan. You can stick a lit cigarette in front of it and not even smell it.

I want to get one of the respirators with the cartridges over the back, so I can wear it while welding.

this is interesting, some test data using an organic cartridge respirator with a HEPA filter, I assume they mean the prefilter. the HEPA filter seems to be the difference http://www.osha.gov/SLTC/isocyanates/mdi/mdi.html

ive done it a few times with AXE but decided 2 minutes of fun is really not worth killing tons of brain cels , dont want to end up talking like ozzy now
