OEM, HONDA. Goodyear would be my only next choice and only if it was a great price.

Thats what I was thinking. OEM is made for that exact car and application, but Goodyear is a dependable brand. Idk. I think itll be OEM though, unless they dont have it![]()
Gates/Napa.... just as good as oem honda... half the price

Yeah, I'm going to have to beg to differ on that one. I've said it before and I'll say it again, "imitation may be the greatest form of flattery, but it has no place in your Honda". I would highly recommend going OEM on this one. Also, all new Honda parts carry a 12 month 12 thousand mile warranty.
And Thats The Bottom Line... Because Stone Cold Said So!

I did not know that about the 12/12 warranty. But im leaning toward OEM. Honda knows their shit.
i use a gatorback.
has it been a good belt?
i havent had any problems...
thats not to say its the 'best' belt or anything, ive used one on my last 3 cars and never had a problem.
i first used it just cuz it cost more than any other belt, and id always heard good things about gatorback belts in general...
Im torn between a Goodyear and OEM. Goodyear is reputable, but OEM is too. Idk
I've been using gates for years and never had a problem, i wonder who actually makes the belts for the USDM market? I know a lot of oem manufactures use gates from the factory, both belts and hoses.
my civic had the timing belt changed at honda and they used a Gates belt...so i agree with lost on this one
now duralast and anything from vatozone is crap

buying the gates at nappa gives you pretty much the same belt as the dealer, without the markup. if you buy the belt, buy the kit with belt and tensioner. you always want to replace the tensioner, a failed bearing can snap your new belt
dont forget to get a oem honda water pump...for belts i used the gates one with no problem for about 40k

So belt, Gates or OEM, tensioner, and water pump. Thats all, right?
You've got an LX? You should do ALL the belts, since you're taking them off, just put all new ones on, and the front main seal, since you will be right there to do it too.
I got an OEM belt, water pump, valve cover gasket, and tensioner all for 137.28. they gave me a 15% discount due to the age
That's not a bad deal. And all OEM parts too which is good. Aftermarket parts and even parts manufactured by the same companies as the OEM parts are not the same. They are facsimiles at best. Honda engineers forward their own design specs to these companies and they inspect the parts thoroughly before they hit the warehouses and dealers to make sure that they function exactly as they were designed to. Honda puts a lot of money and R&D into this stuff. They take the quality of their parts very seriously.
