And when you pull your plugs, that can tell you alot in this situation. They should all be a nice cocoa brown. The one or ones that may be misfiring may be a bit black and or carbonned up a bit badly. And that can isolate what cylinder or cylinders are having the problem.

Well I went outside to do a quick test.

    Not really the smartest thing...

But found out that Cylinder 4. *driver side* has been the one that was dead the whole time.

I'm going to replace the cables and get new plugs today If I can.

Got 2 sets for 8 bucks all together.....But I only need 2 of them to work, and just untill next Thursday.

so, I'm off to clean em up a bit and then putting them in to test em.

:O I just got pulled over. Man I was scared to hell. >.> especially since I haven't completely finished all my tag and registration crap yet.

I opened the door, He asked me for insurance, Told him I didn't have any with me at the moment.

He looked at the car. And sait get my stuff fixed and get out of there.

Also I don't even know what I did wrong.

    OMFG! I'm still shaking.

BTW the spark plug wires don't seem to be the issue.

Next I'll replace the spark plugs...Anyone else Have a Idea of what it could be.

Maybe my distributor is bad? Cause I'm really hoping its nothing to complex cause I'm no car guru.

Cap, rotor and plugs. Take them off and look at them. And replace them. The plugs can tell alot. See what they look like.

I will do the plugs tonight when I get back from work, Its to late to start working on it now.

When I check the cap, Should I look for burn marks, And maybe some arch issues?

Goto Youtube and type in "Flex your rights" and watch the video.

Were you stopped? Or just on the side of the road with a inoperable vehicle? If you really feel you were unjustly harassed, file a complaint.

in the center of the cap is a spring loaded button, make sure it is not pitted and or carbonized. Same with the side metal contacts. If they appear to be to pitted replace the cap. If they look good just clean them alittle with a piece of sandpaper, steelwool etc:

Loss of metal increases the distance that need to be traveled by the arc.

Max resisitance on your wires is 25,000 ohms, if the resistance is any higher replace them.

watched that video, But I still don't get why he let me go.

I had no insurance, tags and registration from 02, and I haven't even gotten the car completely signed in my name.

I wonder why he let me go so easily. Maybe something more important happened.

If so I feel damn lucky right now.

    *back on topic*
Okay so check the cap for those issues. Okay Will do that.

    also
    start the car
unplug 1 wire at a time and see if u hear any diffrence

you should hear a noticeable difference or it should stall on the cylinders that are firing on the one that's not you will hear no difference at all

You are one lucky MF. Either the cop got another call, or he was just too lazy, or he was near the end of his shift. That was like going into a casino with 50 bucks and coming out with $500. It happened, count your lucky stars, but it probably won't happen again. Don't lose your car over this, not to mention a mountain of fines, which will ban you from further registrations or suspend your drivers license, etc etc.

I wouldnt put off buying plugs and wires, esp since those are in that shape. Dont skimp or wait around on maintenance or something else will screw up. Check the rotor button and make sure its not worn too bad, even if it isnt there like 2.50 so just get a new one. Check the dist. cap as well.

make sure the firing order is right and you didn't switch a couple of plugs.

Well unless the firing order was wrong before I even touched em it should eb right.

I had the car off, Unplug one wire, put the new one on, start it listen do a few revs to feel how quick it was. did this for each one.

Did em all like this, Everything went fine.

the only one I noticed had a issue was cylinder 4, Drivers side one. *US car*

when I had that one plugged in or unplugged, the car Sounded the same, and revved the same...So I think its that plug/cylinder, I can't really check it tonight like I planned, It completely froze over, and my driveway is a death trap right now because of it.

So I'll do this tomorrow morning.

Thanks again for the help guys.

Drivers side plug is #1, passenger side is #4. So from drivers side to passenger side is 1, 2, 3, 4. There are slash marks on the distributor cap where the wires plug into as to what cylinder that wire goes to. The marks look like this ( IIII, II, I, III ).

Haha, this thread is funny. My car sounds like a weedwacker at high rpm's because I have a loose exhaust mount.
