1988 Honda Accord LX-i Coupe 123k miles.
pictures soon I hope.
pictures, yes.... soon no
here's the story:
I own(ed) to roadworthy accords. 88 + 89 lxi coupes (mt)
Both were totaled last year: 08/06, 10/25 and none of it was my fault.
Settlement on the first went to my bro (he bought it originally)
Haven't settled on the second one yet. (second one I just painted in august)
88 got rear ended, and 89 got smashed in the front
i thought of cutting them in half and welding the 2 good ends together
then i remembered i don't live in TJ
Accordian math:
Turn 1 coupe into: a hatch and a sedan
(sedan to be purchased upon settlement for the 89)
so the 88's motor is being pulled as we speak, and it will likely go into the hatch. Pics after that.
Our Journey begins here:
NOTE: You will not ever get your car clean w/o one of these:
ew not a fan of the red... but to each there own lol, did u rebuild it?
1988 Honda Accord LX-i Coupe 123k miles.
1: Clearly anything painted red on a car is for racing. Also its common knowledge that red things go faster than not red things. Why do they paint so many Ferraris red? CUZ IT ADDS HORSEPOWER. I've calculated it adds approximately 15 horses to our weak little 2 litres.
2: This motor came out of my 88 lxi coupe. It was rebuilt 2 years ago, driven 5000 miles, then wrecked. 40k on the JDM manual Transmission.
Not a big fan of the red....and you shouldnt have paid more than $250 for the shell, but then again location, location I guess.

you haven't even seen pictures of the shell yet. how do you know its worth <$500?
Shell: (removing engine today)
Finished painting motor: (will go into hatch)
i reckon that motor looks pretty cool (Y)
i thought you were dropping it in last week
its in... but i haven't fully assembled it yet as i have run into some "problems"
specifically, the motor is sitting about 3° lower on the timing cover end than the transmission end. It is supposed to be a little off kilter, but I have another car to compare to directly 6ft away, and the difference is quite noticeable.
not sure what the fuck I'm going to do about it. Probably have to take it to a frame shop once its all done.
lol at the transmission hose on the engine
All mounts came out of another MT 88 accordian I own. (motor and trans)
Rubber mounts were all replaced as well. (they are the right ones, same part numbers and passed visual comparison to those from my other MT accordian)
Transmission hose on the intake for pcv: its what they had that fit which i didn't have to special order
flex plate came on a jdm long block i got a couple years back. I use it when the motor is on the stand to find top dead center, cuz the stand does not accommodate the flywheel, and otherwise its a bitch to find tdc w/o something on the rear end of the crank.

that whole 'drivers side front sits lower than the rest of the car' thing is not the first time I've seen that. In fact, if you search it (no I'm not telling you to search, just saying it for reference) you'll find a number of ppl even posting about a low front d/s.
It still has yet to be explained (from what I remember).
