1988 Supra non turbo automatic.
I just couldnt pass this deal up, Its one of those rare chances that only happens to a few people. I know its not a 3g but hell atleast its the same year model as my hatch. I bought this car for 600$ at a local speed shop here in Alabama. They said that the engine had a spun main bearing and they just wanted it gone. They fired it up for me and the harmonic balancer started knocking to all hell. I agreed that the engine was blown and offered 600$. They took the money with greedy eyes and i went about my mary way.
Once i got home with the car (towed it on my tow truck) i laughed with triumph!! When i saw the front harmonic balancer wiggle i had immediatly known what had happened, I have seen it before. The front pully/harmonic balancer bolt worked loose and fell out allowing the pully to wobble about the place. So there ya go, 10 mins after getting it home i replaced the front harmonic balancer bolt, and drove it like i stole it.
a market value car of 4,000$ for 600$ = Epic WIN!!
Even at such a momumental win I am still poised to flip it real quick for an easy profit of 3g's, the 3k to be used to fund my 88 hatch track car. On the other hand finding a MKIII toyota supra in this condition for an affordable price is near impossible.
so here are my options I am considering (and please help me decide)
1. sell it for an easy 3k profit
2.keep it, convert to 5spd, megasquirt it and turbo it. (which putting a standalone is a requirement of all cars that i own (except the wifes minivan)
