lol test fit just for you matt
lol flash, how are they held on? i forgot to save that head liner woops
its all good. and its just sitting there for now.
Flash indeed, ow!
i think ill screw it on with self tapping screws rather than rivet it that way when i paint the car i can remove them easily
dont do a fail like i did and unevenly space the holes apart all at different heights
right i was bored today so i swapped the rear axle, this crx was a poverty spec model so it didnt have a torsion tube swaybar type rear end like the rest of them, in other words it handled like ass. i got the necessary civic si parts and rear axle and swapped it today
new axle and trailing arm
removal of old axle
compare them, they are the same so mint
removed drum shoes etc to remove the handbrake cable to i can swap the trailing arm as the cable goes through it.
found fail, the trailing arms are different lengths
right so while the arms were of i noticed the only thing i needed to swap onto the crx arm was a little round thing that the bushings for the sway arm linkage would fit it
This piece was pressed in i noticed so i bashed it out and out it came
bashed it back into the crx arm and it fitted mint
assembled it all
and thats it, all done, ill get more pics later and take it for a test drive and see how she handles
that's the first time i've ever seen a fwd solid rear axle lol
try work for a tyre shop, most new fwd nissans have them, fail
Nice work! Did it make a big improvement?
dunno yet no gas to test drive it, maybe later today
okay ive taken it for a test drive and its ftw. handles a bit better when you go over bumps now, the rear doesnt sway sideways as bad as it used to.
Took the radiator out yesterday, hoping to fix why this car overheats all the time, found out a bolt from the header panel was too long ad made a hole in it, i took it to the radiator man and he filled the hole, leak tested it and found 5 more holes here and there, he fixed it all up for me. $20 it costed, stuck the car back together today and its mint, engine starts, runs at 1500rpm till it heats up then drops to around 800rpm which is mint, and then the fan comes on when it comes up to temperature, im happy, the car actually feels like its running better too, i guess before the engine never got any water temperature up as it just leaked it out.
Also fixed the popup headlight panel, before the motor didnt make the eyelids open up, i found 3 wires were off the motor so i soldered them back on why the header panel was off, this now works also
Im overall happy now.
Repaired radiator
Wires needed repairing
Sad Looking CRX
well a 1g crx wouldnt be a 1g crx without rust:
All we did today was remove the panels and have a look at how bad the rust was, Im going to have to pull the interior out of the car again for my mate to sandblast the rusty area.
Fuck that's a load of rust. Good luck on the repairs man! Looks like you're getting to most of it before it gets really bad though. (Y)
yeah its good to do it now cause the rest of the car is straight as and tidy and it would be a waste to let it rust away. these cars are getting pretty hard to find these days
Anyways the CRX has a new engine and MANUAL transmission, DOHC ZC power y0. dunno when ill be allowed to install it tho as she still cant drive a manual poos
