    Re: AccordB20A's 1g CRX thread

    chur..

    right CRX rust is done

Ive Started the manual swap for the CRX too. I chucked the engine on the stand and took the intake off and cleaned the fuck out of it.

Im doing some experimenting with gearboxes too, so while the box is apart i cleaned it too

What im doing with the gearbox is rebuilding it with internals from another accord gearbox and swapping in the gears with good ratios. pretty much going to run the accord 5th and final drive and the civic 1,2,3 and 4th

    Re: AccordB20A's 1g CRX thread

right more progress. i got a accord b18a gearbox here (yes i know rare as fuck wank wank bellhousing)

i pulled apart both boxes and compared ratios. Basically the accord final drive is 4.06 and the civic is 3.86. I decided to use the accord final drive with the civic gears.

removal of 5th gear, ill use the 5th gear from the accord box so the engines not doing 4000rpm on the highway.

now i pulled the guts out of the accord box and removed the diff, took off tis ring gear and swapped it onto the civic diff

now i started to put the box back together. i used the civic 1st, 2nd and 3rd with the accord 4th and 5th.

thats where im up to now, im going to go to bed as its like 1am and i am going to smash something if i dont leave it. i cant get the fucking gear selector piece in!!!

    Re: AccordB20A's 1g CRX thread

right, excuse the shitty pics. i nearly threw my camera at the wall for some reason it cant take pics at night time no matter how you set it up. AAnnyways today i decided it was time to complete that gearbox thats been sitting in the shed bugging me all week for the crx so i did.

then i got the CRX in the shed and removed some precious plastic panels and started removing the EW5 motor from the hole.

Because i needed to swap the hubs for the zc axles to fit i installed some near new mint monroe shocks on the new hubs and threw the old hubs/brakes complete with axles in the scrap pile. I have also some mint accord CA3 twin piston calipers to on, i just need to locate some integra rotors cause i have none at the moment haha

Anyways here some pics of the engine coming out

degreased engine bay for the hell of it

Bolted the gearbox onto the ZC, it hangs here waiting to go into its new home tomorrow !!

    More tomorrow

Those are EXCELLENT examples of how rust should be taken care of. Great job! Cant wait to see it with a new coat of paint.

    Re: AccordB20A's 1g CRX thread

it appears the higher the final drive ratio the more likely its going to blow up so if i put the 3.8 into the accord box it should last longer but this ZC doesnt make that much torque so it should be right. Yes this is the car my gf drives around, shes gunna have fun ,learning a manual now she has no choice lol

more pics later im gunna stick the engine in

right the engines in yayyyyy.took ages as i needed to find a mount i had lost and had to go to my mates place 40km away to get it. anwyays its in (Y)

polished up a B20A eletric advance dizzy and cam sensor to go on for the OBD1 swap

i also bolted on the accord twin piston calipers when i installed the axles.

Next step, drill some holes to mount the gear shifter and install the pedal box and clutch cable... maybe tomorrow night

    Re: AccordB20A's 1g CRX thread

riight more work is done, bought a EG5 dohc ZC/D16A9 intake manifold to chuck on it.To make it fit you just need to remove two studs from the head and it bolts straight up. I have a eg4 vti engine wiring loom on the engine and i need to modify it to fit the CRX body loom. The engine cant start just yet as im waiting on a eg civic body loom to steal the efi wiring out of for the stand alone OBD1 swap.

hers some pics of the manifold on the motor and the clearace is good.

more work done on the CRX. i have the loom now! so i chopped it all up, no pics of that as i need to buy some solder to finish it off, but i installed the pedal box tonight (the job i was dreading and was going to leave it till last lol)

radiators in too and the fuel lines. (this car was carb and im using the carb lines still hence the hose clipped pressure line)

heres some pics, passenger side ecu plugs go through the AC bung so i dont have to look at them

    radiator hooked up

and fuel lines, excelent fuel filter placement haha
