    a20a1 to b20a1

How much trouble would it be to put a b20a1 in my 89 accord, that is currently an a20a1. Would it be worth all the work? I looked up the specs, and going from 98hp to 145 sounds alright. I found a 88 prelude 2.0si with the b20a1 in it. it was the blacktop.

The entire powertrain is simply shaped wrong to fit the engine bay. Look up "Honda B20A engine" and start reading. But don't trust us, why don't you try it.

    Re: a20a1 to b20a1

im sure with a welder and some fabrication you can make it work. but if your going to all that effort why dont you try and fit a h22a into it.

also a b20a1 is a edm motor, the prelude motor is called a b20a5

There's a guy on PreludePower who put a B20A5 into a 2g Prelude. If it fits in that car, it will surely fit in the Accord.

    Re: a20a1 to b20a1

the thing is that the b20a was never offered in the united states so getting one is really hard... it was a japan motor and europe got it too but to get one over there is kinda hard....i know a seller on ebay has one but that was like 1150 for a whole swap. it will bolt right in but then you have to think about converting your car to fuel injection....if you want a lil more prep to your enegine there are lots of things you can do like weber, headers, cam...that will free some hp and make it a lil bit more fun to drive with out spending big bucks just to get 60 more hp

I am not into the topic but I have read some threads dedicated to this.
What I learned from them is that engines like the one you are interested in are tilted the opposite way than the original A20. You would need to fabricate special mounts... just search and read
If it ain't broke... I fix it!

    Re: a20a1 to b20a1

I'm of the persuasion that you could do it. If that guy Raven can make a supercharged 3.8 fit into a third gen Cavalier, then you could poke a 2.0 where a 2.0 should be. Just like what the guy in Mad Max said "Speed is just a matter of money. How fast do ya' want to go?"

Is 60 more ponies forth all the time and effort? Keep in mind that that many of our cars were never meant to be, or designed to be, fast. Thats not to say that they can't be, but it can be an expensive challenge.

If you have the time look at "GoMini.com". These guys solve the problem real easy... Custom subframe.
