    Carb Rebuild

So I'm thinking of rebuilding my carb.

As someone who's never seriously worked on a carb, I've got a couple of questions. (some may be repeats from a previous thread of mine)

    1) Can I do it?
    2) Can I do it in a weekend?
    3) Kragen has 2 kits - for 2 different carbs? - any clue how I can find out which serial number carb is on my car/ALSO/Are there good places online to buy a kit? These are 3-barrel cabrs, right?
    4) Any special tools I should get in advance?

Oh, and I plan on taking detailed photos of the process to make an overhaul how-to... so if things come together, I'll be doing this friday-sunday of this week!

    Thanks!

if you don't know how to tell how many barrels the carb has then I wouldn't recommend you take it apart (the answer is 2)

    2-BBL = 2 Barrel Carb.

There are different gasdkets depending on the year of your car... I got a defalt 86-87 carb efe plate gasket that didn't work with my 88-89 efe plate. So just be warned.

Gah! That's why I asked - I told the guy at the store 2, he said the '86 Accord has a 3-barrel carb, and those are the kits he had.

But seriously tho. I'm not retarded, and with proper instructions, why not? Anyone think they can answer my questions in the original message?

Yeah, the air-box and top hat was my previous thread filled with carburator-related woes So then. Hmm. Gotta find a place to order a kit so that I can get it by this friday. Any idea where? Don't really trust the kragen guys since they think I have a 3 bbl carb. I want to have the entire weekend at disposal as to have time to fuck up

    Thanks!

Parts stores have some retarded info on their computers, 3bbl Accords last appeared in '85. Tell them the motor number (i.e. A20a1) but I think its better just to go to a junkyard and pull one yourself and swap it in and if it doesn't work go get another (personal preference, carb rebuild kit was a pain in the ass, you have to guess what o-ring they're talking about in the picture).

make sure to clearly mark ALL those stupid vacume hoses....it will make installing the carb alot easier...i got a carb rebuild kit from the local car store...just started taking hoses out ...and markin them with letters and numbers...it took me like 3 days of hard work to remove ...rebluid...clean ...re assemble..and re instal back into the car ...its a lot of work and it can be tricky ....but you will save alot of money if you do it yourself....i was going to have someone rebuild mine but they wanted like 550 bucks to do it ...

i got my rebuild kit from autozone. it is the only one the have to 86 so it is hard to misslabel.
it took me about 3 hours with taking apart 2 carbs and putting together a good one.

i know that the listing in the computer where i work called the carb a 2bbl, but isn't the secondary some tiny little thing that makes it a 3bbl?
