    Northwest 81 Hatch

Almost 20 years after trading my '77 Accord in I'm back in a first gen Accord. Picked up an 81 in pretty good shape. One spot of rust poking out from under the passenger side quarter window trim and 2 small spots under the rear window. I wish my 77 had been this rust free when I repainted it! Mechanically it has a choke/carb problem to sort out (floods when restarting a warm engine) but otherwise runs great.

It's great to find a site with as much knowledge as I see here.

I'll add pics as soon as I'm able to post them.

Going to keep it pretty much stock. It had some minor body work done at some time in it's past and the driver's door and quarter panel were repainted. The repaint is the only paint that is in poor shape so I'll probably try to repaint it to match the original paint and fix the couple of rust spots at the same time.

Mechanically, I'll take care of the carb issues and do some general maintenance but don't see making many changes - it runs too well to mess with much.

You should talk to John (2ndGenGuy). He's only about 50 miles from you.

Dang that thing is MINT! Looks so much nicer than my car! I think I have some spare trim rings you can have. I don't know how great they are though, I'd have to look. The good news is the trim rings are the same all the way up to the late 80s, and they were on quite a few Civics, so they're pretty easy to find. Thanks for posting pics! Hit me up if you need anything, I've got quite a few parts hanging out in bins. Mostly engine parts and things like that, good spares for rebuilding if you need.

Wow, it sure is in mint condition. With an accord like that, I would also consider keeping it pretty much stock .I would repaint all the exterior panels though( to make sure the paint matches) Unless you know someone that can match it really close 8)
