Not sure what to think,

I have an idea of what the wire is above the oil filter, anyone know for sure?

another thing I cant figure out is why its greasy in places, like on the egr valve

greasy at the thottle connection to the carb

the top of the carb looks fine, but I dont know what the hell I'm doing

Oh, btw, this is a list of problems with my car

-oil leak falling on exaust

-cooling fan not turning on

-carberator? raining really hard one day and she died, starter turning, no fire, car cooled and she fired up then died, third time I got out of the parking lot that I was stuck in

i would try cleaning that carb up with some carb cleaner for starters

would also consider getting a rebuilt kit and rebuilding it if that doesnt seem to help.. or get a Weber if you can afford then your never have to look at thoses vac lines again

I have a carb sitting in the living room, not sure if its the same one, looks the same, just not sure if thats the problem, and I dont know why my fan is not turning on, checked the fuses, none are blown, whats the plug above the oil filter? idiot light? I think oil is coming out of that, if I were to get a webber how does the crankcase ventalate? the hose from the valve cover to the air filter case?

could it be carb icing? I did not make any sense by taking the filter off, and now I have to go to work

The wire is for the oil pressure switch. Grease on the throttle cable is probably because someone greased the moving joint before. The picture provided is not the EGR valve, that is the air suction diaphragm, not sure why it is greasy. Clean it up with carb cleaner and see if it comes back.

if you have an oil leak falling onto the exhaust manifold its probably your valve cover gasket,could explain the sludge on the intake manifold as well

agreed! my old 3g did the same thing. it was the valve cover gasket. it got to the point where after driving for about 45 minutes, i could pull over and see burnt oil smoke coming off the header.

I'll give it a try when I have time, I looked at the valve cover gasket, not leaking, Its new too, I replaced not to long ago

just hook the valve cover up to a breather filter if u get a weber and keep the pcv valve in the same place u reuse the stock manifold

oh and oil on exhuast could be oil pan gasket rear main seal front main seal or cam seal get under the car with it running and see if u can see it driping from anywhere

Check PCV valve as well when you replace valve cover gasket.

As for the fan, it could be the sensor in the base of the radiator I think it's below the battery. You can jumper the sensor and bypass it to see if the fan is still good. Once jumper-ed your fan will always be on which is a good temporary fix just so you can drive around with piece of mind till you get a new sensor, assuming the sensor is bad.

Check Coolant and Oil levels

Oil leak could also be the gasket (demented o-ring) between oil filter adapter and engine block.
