    5 speed, clutch doesnt disengage

Ok, I was getting a final rundown on things I needed to finish on my accord, and I noticed that I push the clutch pedal down, it feels ALOT softer than it should for the dual diaphram 6 puck clutch I have in it (almost stock), even though the cable is adjusted up as far as it goes, and when i push it down, the cable under the hood flops around and when you let off, the clutch pedal returns to the original position. Im sure if I simply messed up the installation of the clutch or throwout bearing, the clutch pedal would probably just go to the floor when pushed and not return, so Im wondering if it could be a bracket or cable issue? With the new engine in, pretty much the tranny flywheel and clutch and clutch cable are the same as the last setup that worked great but that was like 2+ years ago...

Throwout bearing spring is not operating correctly ie; mine broke. resulting in it inability to retract the bearing.

If the bearing spring is broke or not properly installed, it will not allow the clutch to disengage or engage, this depends on the position of the bearing in relation to the clutch. This is what happened to me, a broken bearing spring.

Did you try moving the release arm by hand? You should be able to feel when the bearing makes contact with the fingers. See if that point is within the range that the clutch pedal can pull the cable.

BTW, is there any chance you might have forgotten to torque down the bolts on the pressure plate?

I dont think so, im pretty good about not forgetting things on assembly but Ill try moving the arm this afternoon and see where the problem is. I hope i dont have to pull the tranny cause i forgot somthing stupid..

Edit: I checked it out again and it appears to be working, I guess I just remember the pedal being stiffer than it really is. Ill see tomorrow, it should be running hopefully!!
