Yeah I started laughing when he was telling me. I'm running Novice so I dont see what the problem is.

Like I said, after 1 event you should be running in class.

You should travel to some bigger/more competitive events. Go to packwood some time this year and have your mind blown.

The way the club runs that I'm in you run Novice your first year. I'm planning on going down some time in June/July.

BSCC was like that too. Novice for the first season.

Packwood is totally epic. Hell, even Bremerton is pretty good, at least it was. Haven't been there since they started closing down parts of the runway though. Packwood would be pretty fucking far from B-ham though. I had a blast there the weekend before last. It was actually a two event weekend (Saturday and Sunday), so it might have been worth the weekend trip. Maybe.

They placed you in SM and are still complaining?! Some regions purely play by the book, others (NY) are really liberal. Definitely don't take them seriously & cause as many rumblings are you can

Well I've been considering using my sisters 02 Si Hatch with suspension, or my roomies 07 Sti.

When a club sees a fast driver in novice they might think he's just a fast driver or he has experience elsewhere and is running under novice just to score high.

Run what you want. There's a novice running with a lotus elise, I don't think anything you can come up with is gonna piss anyone off.

Or one of the club members could find your posts here and find out about all your illegal mods. LOL! Busted!

Or notice your 420 ID and wonder about that.

    The internet's a small world ain't it?

If you notice I was saying I don't want to get caught trying to cover anything up. And the screen names coincidence, as well as amusing.

For what it's worth, different clubs have different definitions of "novice". For most clubs it's anyone that hasn't run with them before and/or has run less than 3 times with them in the previous year. For some clubs it's less than 3 times anywhere.

There are usually restrictions on tires that can be used as a novice. I believe pretty much the restrictions that fall under "street touring" probably apply to novice. I wouldn't think it uncommon to see several cars in the novice grouping with some modifications.

What does it matter? Well aside from making other people who truly are novices feel welcome to the sport and not get creamed by ringers, there are some clubs that offer prizes for the best novice of the year - these clubs take such attempts at cheating seriously.

I never ran with Chuckanut as a novice even though I was entitled to. I wasn't new to autocross, I just drove like it - and I still do.

I'm not saying OP is or isn't a novice, just putting some info out there.

This year is my first year anywhere, any kind of legal racing. So I know I'm fine. So I'm not too worried about it. I'm actually excited for nest year when I move into a class. I just need to figure out what I want to do... (New car most likely)
