    Re: Nio's 89 SE-i Build Thread *Part 2*

Alright so Now that I have the parts. Its time to do the work.

As of right now, I've started work on removing the oil pan, have all the bolts undone the guard removed, the pulley off, both tires removed for light and ease of access. and I'm stuck on the EGR valve. I bought some heavy duty rust remover to get it off. so I'm spraying it a few times, If I can't get it off that way, I'm just going to drill the nut and get a new one to put on it.

So Here are some pictures of how she sits. I'll be taking alot more as I keep going hope you like.

At the rate I'm going she should be running again either tonight or tomorrow afternoon. then I get to add all the new stuff to her.

Also Can't wait to get new rotors & brakes *these ones have seen far to much*

BTW I need a vote. Which set should I use. the Left side is Beck/Arnley, and the Right side is J.I.S Engine parts.

    Liking the progress

I had a hard time getting it off as well haha but a long thin extension and a pipe that you slide on the socket wrench and turn. should come out without having to strip the nut. also push against it to prevent from stripping it. thats what i did and came off.

Beginning to be a post whore

Sometimes I think my car really hates me.

T_T I was able to finally get one bolt off, but the other one was stuck and stripped. so I am currently trying to just break it off. which has put me way behind on time. but I should still be able to get her running its just a bit more of a hassle then I was wanting.

    Re: Nio's 89 SE-i Build Thread *Part 2*

Having a feud with my accord. had to cut the EGR out after removing the bolt so its gone. but now I run into another problem with the exhaust not wanting to come apart *header and downpipe* so I'm having to cut it out as well. thankfully I'm getting OBX exhaust. But then I finally get to pull the oil pan completely out and change the bearings.

Sadly though, I tried to install my new window. the door is to far gone. when the window gets halfway up it jams even though the track is clear and it almost shattered the new window. so yea for that.

Also when I got the jump to do the window I hit my fuel system switch by accident and found out that the O-ring on injector 2 is bad and it shot fuel all over the front of the engine, which wouldn't be so bad, but I had the newly painted valve cover on and it tore it all up, so I get to resand and repaint that.

TT^TT my rin is being a little devil to me. I have 5 days left to get her running and she has been fighting me every step of the way. BUT I WILL PREVAIL!

Btw I don't think she liked the orange so I'm going to go with the yellow.

if the motor hasn't been running for a while, wriggle the injectors around. that usually stops them from pissing fuel everywhere

well I had actually planned to remove all of that before starting the car at all.

    >.< but I forgot which of my switches did what so I ended up flipping my fuel system switch instead of the power. XD so its my own fault.

Was able to get the headers off finally. However I've been all over town and no one carries the fuel injectors o-rings.

As well the oil pan is stuck still because of a rotted hose. It seems the farther I get the more the car doesn't want to agree with me. Its getting really annoying.

well if the hose is rotten why not cut it with a blade and replace with a new one? when i see a swollen hose i just replace them.

I want to be. but its just gotten so frustrating, its not like its one thing every little bit, its as soon as I fix one problem, another comes up, and then another and another.

I'm almost about to give up on her. I have the hose off, and now it still won't come down.

It seems there is a Transaxle to engine dust shield *in the manual* but it shows no pictures or anything, and If I have to remove the trany to get any farther I will give up because I don't have that kind of time, I have 3 days 4 at most, I'm stuck on jack stands unable to pull the engine out, have been told I could do the bearing swap without pulling out the engine, but it would seem I can't do it. either I'm a idiot or my car just isn't giving up on some secret.

That sucks Mike! by any chance does it need to be replaced right away or you just want to put new part in the car?

the oil pan is just bolted on and should come right off. also the sealant might holding it down so i wont budge. just gotta be patient bro and then you'll see some progress. if ya need some more help send me a text or call and ill help ya out.

Any luck on those Fuel injector o rings? if not auto zone could other them for you.

Alright, so now we are working on the rod connections. I found a hell of a lot of play in cylinder one so I'm gonna go out and say its the spun one.

problem is the end cap hasn't come off even though the nuts are off. any suggestions? maybe a screw driver very gently?

we got the bearing out, Number 1 had spun, the bearings were sitting on top of each other. so happy it finally all worked out.

Thanks for the support guys, If it wasn't for you all and my buddie out here helping me I would have most likely given up on the car.

    MORE PICTURES!!!!!!!!! MYAAAA!!!!!

It might be a little hard to see, but this is what the fuel did to my VC, BTW which had fuel & oil resistant paint already on it, but I think 3 days might not have been long enough for it to set.

So after finally getting the oil pan off, This is what I find inside. Pieces of rod bearing. and alot of other nasty stuff.

My buddie for 10 years, and the same one that got me into cars in the first place *89 camero, :3* also this is the oil pan in its lovelyness.

For those who do not know, This is a Engine to Transaxle Dust shield. *there are 4 bolts*

Some shots of the oil pump. and crank

And last, the new rod bearings on the right, and the old on the Left.

You can see right where it broke.

I have also picked up Royal Purple oil, K&N oil filter, lucas fuel injector cleaner, and a bunch of other little goodies you will all get to see when I get her running tonight or tomorrow. *this times its a guarantee.

:3 told you all I would give pictures. It may not be while I'm working but I love to show whats going on.
