    Re: Nio's 89 SE-i Build Thread *Part 2*

Okay almost everything is back in, its late so we stopped. We will start again tomorrow. If nothing has changed since when I last started the car this was the only major problem and the car should be running, if she is I will get a recording of it and share it with you all.

Which I'm pretty sure would be something nice to hear for a change instead of nothing what so ever.

:3 good thing I love to take pictures.

BTW we now have the new oil filter in *K&N* the old one had to be puncthered with a screw driver in 3 spots and turned to get it out.

It was a STP oil filter that isn't even made any more. *its actually so old that I can't find the serial number anywhere online* the only number I think I could find that might be a year was 87, but it puzzles me why a fuel filter 2 years older then my car would be in, Or never changed for that matter.

Also we got the oil gasket in place, I just need to find a new oil hose, and hopefully fix my exhaust *>.< you will see why when I get a picture later.*

All is coming great so far. still a bit of frustration here and there but its all good.

*BTW I finally cut myself on the car, T_T my finger on the license plate, of all the bloody things*

    Re: Nio's 89 SE-i Build Thread *Part 2*

so first off I would like to say today was a very long day. A very very long day. I've been up since 8am working on the car.

when I put the oil pan in, It didn't fit, so I had to take it out and try again, still didn't fit, figured they gave me the wrong one *8 months ago BTW* and thus the frustration began.

but after a nice little hammer beat on the side it went right in *the wall was to thick*.

After that moved onto changing out all the fuel injector stuff, the cushion ring, o-ring and the seat where all replaced on all 4 injectors. Then I also install a new VC gasket, a new K&N oil filter, we got the old one out with a screw driver and 3 holes, *I think its from 87 lol, we can't find the part number online*

Had a slight problem though, I went to put the pully back on, and >:O my damn key was gone, I some how lost it. so I felt totally screwed but me and my buddie went out and started hunting, found a shop that sold a size just to big, since no one seems to sell metric key around here. filed it down and put it in. yea!

Now keep in mind this next part was a little tricky. >.>

We backer her up and out of the garage, put the battery in her, and SHE STARTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's right I now have a 3g again! It only took 6 days of hard work and constant things going wrong or haywire, but shes up and running.

I just have to fix the exhaust, replace the CV axles, Bolt the window in since the tracks are busted, and get my horn working and inspect it and insure it and I'm on my way.

When I said we had to cut out the exhaust, I wasn't joking, I'm taking it to a shop tomorrow, going to have them remove the bolts on the header, Weld everything they can back together, and then pick it up and put it all back in for inspection.

A little bit of engine bay love for you all.

Now so you all can see and hear her start. :3 *BTW the voice is my rather drunk mom.*

Working on installing a new horn. Since I have to have one to pass inspection and mine wires are all screwed and crap.

Also the headers and downpipe have been fixed at the auto shop. I'll be taking it back tomorrow to put the new muffler on and.

    Re: Nio's 89 SE-i Build Thread *Part 2*

Soooo. I'm done with everything I can do to the car to get it road ready. Tomorrow I'm taking it to the dealer to do my CV axels, A: because I can't find a 38mm to take off the massive nut, and B: because they can do it fast and right.

As well I'm taking my exhaust to the same guys that have done all my cars and my buddies cars. will have them finish it and put a little something I haven't show yet. I got a cherry bomb *and not a fart can one* its like a normal muffler.

I also did a tad bit of wire tucking and getting it cleaned up.

As for work done. I'll just show some pictures of the time I spent on the car today. I'm sure you will all like very much. :3

    *battery relocation and removal*

    Re: Nio's 89 SE-i Build Thread *Part 2*

Well my Battery relocation didn't work to well. I think I need smaller gauge wire. It started to over heat and the car wouldn't start either, when I put the battery back up front the car started right up.

Also Got the exhaust taken car of, I'll take a picture later.

on the way home from the shop, my engine was making a dreadful sound, and it kept getting worse. got home and had the engine running and looked inside, my pulley was spinning wildly and wobbling back and forth. turned off the car and looked, the locking bolt had completely gotten out and was boucning inside the pulley.

I'm letting the car cool down right now to see if there is any other noise besides that.

Also I'm not driving back to cali, I'm booking a flight right now, I'm going to get it shipped to cali for about 500$ I don't mind waiting, at least then I can work on the car and not have to worry about it breaking down on me on a 900 mile trip on a car I just got running again.

Now I just can't wait to get the headers and downpipe to make it even better.

Just run the positive to the battery. You can ground to the frame. I wouldnt run em both together and under the car anyway.

    Re: Nio's 89 SE-i Build Thread *Part 2*

well I moved it back when I was going home anyways, It wasn't wanting to start and it was getting very hot. so I'm going to rework it. I found since I cut my cruise control there is a whole in the fire wall I can use for wiring so I'm going to move some stuff though that.

also I haven't shipped it yet, I will probably pay for the shipping on the 15th this month. get it up here and just keep working on her.
