Re: New project chassis to build!

    man like I said before

    First you found and sei!

    Second its a manual tranny

Third its a coupe with dark interior

You dont have to mess with no rear disc swaps, no auto to manual conversions, no cancer in the quarters........what else?

You scored big time with the sei regardless of miles. Just remember tat its not only snow/salt that eats the cars out but humidity. So be carefull with car covers etc cause the might hold moisture.

And POR-15 the seam in the trunk where the inner and outer fender meet. That's where I've seen rust form in 3 otherwise rustless cars.

    Whats POR-15?

Yeah i am happy now that im home! I should have a garage space pending my new roommate sells his Trans Am. Im hoping to move again in september and have my own garage space as im well overdue.

I think once i register and inspect it i will begin to tear it apart.

POR=Paint Over Rust its a spray on coating that i guess stops rust from spreading. more for areas that already have rust then a preventative.

Glad to see you got your shell Rob. Sorry I didnt get a chance to see you before you left for the meet

Congrats on the find Rob. Looks like it will be a great base for your project, very good find on a rust free se-i coupe.

I can't wait to see you start to make some progress on this thing, best of luck.

Re: New project chassis to build!

Updates......Barely have any free time but it is garaged and not much has occurred other than de-badging it and looking it over. I pulled out a few things and was going to swap some stuff over on the interior but decided to hold off as body work may begin soon. I might pull all of the interior out soon but i have to pull everything out of the red coupe and swap things over so that one is stock including the A20 and B20.

I was going to fit the xenon kit but i found a blemish on the front bumper from the license plate holder so i may look for a better donor.

Yeah but the factory bracket hangs over onto the black portion and it indented it a bit or was pushed into it. I am going to get the get and start fitting it soon hopefully!

Re: New project chassis to build!

I brought the xenon kit over today and began looking it over i was going to get new bumper skins but they are discontinued go figure. So i will have my friend look at mine and make sure its repairable before i bond the kit to it. I am definitely excited to start ripping into this although time and funds are limited.

I will post up pictures as it progresses!

Has anyone use the after market bumper covers? I am always skeptical of fit of after market body pieces. I was working on it tonight and i definitely want new covers or better condition ones.

Re: New project chassis to build!

how you planning on bonding that kit ontot he bumper?

Just find a decent one from the junkyard man. aftermarkets never line up right and just wind up pissing you off. Besides as long as the top part is fine the rest gets covered up by the kit.

I plan to get urethane glue as mentioned in the past. I did a dry fit last night with spring clamps and it seems pretty good. I think the side skirts are going to be a pain but i want to use them. I am going to a junk yard soon and plan to look around for some donors.
