That's a vacuum pump... I use a similar one. You will still need to disassemble, flush, replace the o-rings, and add the correct oil to the system for good results... It's really not all that much extra work.
I agree with Angus here. It is really not alot of work to properly convert these to R134a. It will make all the difference.

It should work fine. It's just like mine.
...but half the price.![]()

The 2.5 CFM Vacuum Pump is $80. Harbor also sells a Two-Stage 3 CFM Pump for almost twice as much. So I was wondering if there's any reason for a home mechanic to buy the 3 CFM one instead of the 2.5. These prices are dirt cheap. I recall a mechanic friend of mine telling me that his cost a couple hundred bucks and it was used.

The 2 stage is prolly more robust then the other one.
I would watch if you use it for overheating etc. Its prolly fine for home use once a year where as a pro one is made to be used 8 hours a day.
Do a comparison search on some other known brands and see what the specs are.
I got the cheap one that uses compressed air. Its ok but it uses a TON of air and I really ran my 5hp 60 gallon compressor hard like continious for a 20 min vacuum down.

How many times are you going to need this thing? The two times in my life I needed a vacuum pump I rented a commercial grade at a local rental center for $10.
I wouldn't even know where to find one for rent.

I use mine at least once a season. If you get a pin-hole leak that you can't find, you'll be using it a lot more than you know.
Those things are a scream. I used one with a pancake compressor. It didn't come close to pulling vacuum but did get my compressor real hot. I had a good laugh and took it back.

Yeah, well if I get a leak I can't find I would just take it in to a place that has a refrigerant "sniffer." I like to be self reliant, but I have my limits. LOL.
