    Junker coming back to life

I'll keep this updated as the car comes along.... this is what it looked like when I got it... 380 bucks =P

    New fender, hood later

Aparently the car was hit in the front and the headlight bucket is warped all to hell, wasnt even fully bolted in when I got the car... but im planning on doing a fixed headlight setup so Im just leaving it the way it is for now cause it still works, just looks funny.

Got bored one day and felt like spraying my tail lights red.

black box removal! Amazingly enough the car runs 10x better now... idles perfect and actually has some balls accelerating.

Pile of crap that was removed

Dirtiest carb ever... but I bought a weber today so screw this dirty pos.

Re: Junker coming back to life

Why did car companies put miles of vacuum lines on electronic feedback carbs? My 1985 AMC Eagle was the same way, and after I removed the mess of lines it ran 10x as good as it did before (only had the vacuum advance and the vacuum heater valve hooked up). I almost went with a Weber for my Accord, but I've decided to go the EFI route. When I start putting it all back together after tearing it apart I'll probably wish I got the Weber .

Re: Junker coming back to life

well, the idea is that all that crap will make the car start quickly and smoothly, it will idle perfectly, and have the proper air/fuel ratio under any engine load... its basically archaic computer controlled carb.
the thing is, once the shit gets old and starts breaking down or just one piece goes bad, it all goes to hell and throws the entire system out of whack.
so in reality your car isnt really running better than say a brand spanking new carb accord would, it is however running better than your broken down electronic carb was.
Mine was the same way... had no power at all uphill, was pretty bad on fuel consumption, etc etc... removed all that stuff and it feels like a new car in terms of engine running properly.
oh and what CAH said... emissions too.

Re: Junker coming back to life

yeah its the last carb that honda offered so emissions took a big toll on the performance of these cars...any weber upgrade will be nice...now all you need is a cam and header

Still needs alot of fine tuning, idle is waaaay too high and the secondary jet is too big... but damn its loud when you open that secondary!
